Some many great guitar players that have graced our ears with some of the best sounds that could hit our ears, besides the words 'Oh yeah, keep going.' Zack Wilde, Slash, Jimmi Hendrix, James 'Munky' Shaffer, Dan Donigan, Randy Rhodes, Billie Joe Armstrong, and there are many, many more I could name. Who is your favorite? Mine? This guy.
You were doing so well until you put Billy Joe Armstrong into the pantheon of guitaring legends!

IMO he isn't fit to even be in the same thread as the likes of Zakk Wylde, Rhodes, Hendrix. But each to their own!

My favourites aside some already mentioned are :-
Frank Zappa
Devin Townsend
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
Tom Morello
Jim Heath (incredibly underrated)

There are so many worthy to mention that I can't think of them all off the top of my head and it's a crying shame.
for me,its a tie between Richie Sambora (Dry County solo) and Slash (Novemer Rain solo)
Randy Rhodes, my friend. Crazy Train..........
Eric Clapton & Chuck Berry neck and neck for me.
There are so, so many.

I can't disagree with any of those already listed but I would add Jimmy Paige because of raw talent and David Howell Evans(The Edge) because of because of genius creativity.
Stevie Ray Vaughn, may he rest in peace.
Maybe he isn't as flashy as the others, but is there anyone with more classic riffs than Keith Richards? Honky Tonk Women, Jumpin Jack Flash, Start Me Up, Satisfaction, Brown Sugar.........

Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Helen, Eric Clapton

Excellent choice
And the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Carlos Santana...
Besides all the above mentioned; Eric Johnson, Richie Blackmore, Steve Morse, Rory Gallagher. Just to name a few.
1. Duane Allman

Followed by Dickey Betts, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour....and many other " honorable mentions". You get the idea, though.
Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen. They all bring something different to the table plus I have been lucky enough to see each one in concert!

Have to give some love to the alternative guitarists too;

Johnny Marr
John Squire
John Frusciante
Jonny Greenwood
Noel Gallagher
Jeff Mangum
Ty Segall
Mick Ronson
Ron Asheton

Ack. Can't believe I forgot the late Jeff Healey on my list. Listening to the cover of "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" on the recent Beatles tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of their legendary Ed Sullivan appearance, all I could think of was that the best version of the song, The Beatles version with Clapton on guitar included, was Jeff's.

And, to top it all off, he was an expert on early jazz and played the trumpet pretty well, too.
Jimmy Page. He's the boss.
"A dirty book is rarely dusty"
