It was the year 2140, nearly one hundred years since they had first arrived on earth in a spaceship, though they had made first contact a few years earlier. The Deradians were explorers and just wanted to meet other species, and when they neared the edge of our solar system, they reached out to let us know they were close. After months of discussion, leaders of the major countries on earth agreed to meet with them at the international space colony on the moon. Scientists there would ensure that neither species was carrying some sort of microbe that would harm the other. After nearly a year, the ship finally landed on earth, and about two hundred aliens were welcomed. A few years later, two more ships arrived and were welcomed as well.
They looked similar to humans, with a few significant differences. They were very tall, averaging well over seven and a half feet, with some as tall as nine feet. Their skin was a scaly grey, and their eyes were orange and yellow with a vertical black pupil. Instead of arms and legs, they had tentacle-like appendages with two flat opposing paddles for hands, and one large flat paddle for each foot. They were neither male nor female as we understood the concept, with each alien actually containlng both types of reproductive organs.
Their tongues were similar in color to ours, but were much longer and thinner and split at the end. There were many discussions about what to do.
