Author's Notes

"Don't make my mistake."

I was the only woman sitting in the bus station waiting room. All the others were men. I kicked my bag back under my chair. Suddenly, the man sitting opposite looked up from his book, stared at me, giggled, and returned to his book. Then another man giggled, and another. I went as red as a beetroot.

They all knew what was going on. They all knew it was me. I’d never felt so embarrassed. It was all my stupid fault. My foot must have hit the switch. I should have taken the batteries out. Buzz, buzz, buzz.
