No matter how brief or how long

That just slipped away

Does it really matter

If your heart hurts all the same

Sometimes I think about that brief glance

The curl of her lips

The softness of her touch

Or something deeper

A shared kiss, a passionate moan

Then the spell is broken

How does this happen

Why do we let it happen

Did we misunderstand each other after all that

Most of the time I will not know

A few times I have found out later

It was always something different than I thought

We must go on

But the longing and the pain still remains

I hope one day the floodgates will open

Because love and friendship

Should not be tossed

It should be cherised.
