We touched
For the briefest of moments
Yet,
Long enough to know
That more is required,
And soon
Patience maybe required.
Yet anticipation
Demands
Another touch.
I may glimpse your shadow
Or,
Dwell in a place that you have been.
Your scent,
Forever etched
Deep within, a precious memory.
There you are again
You are with company,
And yet
Our hands touch
We linger,
Longer than needed
Something conveyed
Without words,
A whisper of the soul,
Not only seen,
But felt.
We may be;
Plagued with the fog of life;
Time zones;
An ocean that separates;
Yet somehow, distance
Is insignificant.
Greater than all
Is the need to hold
To cherish
To ravage
To plunder
In the darkness
Where confidence
Is sometimes spurned.
The need to know,
For confidence to grow
That she too,
Wants to walk
Sojourners together
Ships that pass in the night
Learning to linger
To savor each morsel of time
On the palette of life
