Grey and dreary was today
She sat in sad, utter dismay
Her world had gone all astray
Two lovers had come her way
One dark of night, one light of day
Slow and smooth was his pursue
He spoke of honesty, just not true
Soon he would cast his darkest hue
Webs he wove only he could undo
Her heart he broke, through and through
She slid her hand in his to dance
Hoping to gain his interest, perchance
Together they soared in certain romance
An illusion of one to all’s first glance
Would forever two be her place, by chance
He loved her true, each would say
Wanted her in his own covetous way
Each forgetting her strength she held at bay
Trust was her drug, make no delay
“Good bye, my lovers,” as she walked away
Grey and dreary was today
And cry she did, this rainy day.
