They say it’s blind,
Maybe, maybe not.
But it blinds!
In the name of the father,
The mother,
One’s country.
God!
We protect that, which we love,
From suffering, from harm, from hate,
Against all.
Beyond reason, beyond sanity,
Beyond our own life.
And in defiant defence is where we fail.
We are all one in our desire for love,
The stronger our love,
The more we fight for it
And the harder we strive.
Ultimately we forget and lose ourselves,
Cease to be that which was loved,
No longer recognised by that we sought to protect,
No longer different to those who sought to trepass.
