I sit alone, staring into the clear, cool water, so calm and still
The reflection of the trees makes the world look upside down
God knows it can feel that way sometimes, especially lately
The mist hovers as it dances over the lake and consumes most everything
Everything except me, of course
It stays just at arm’s length, as if it knows I am off limits
Is it your love that keeps me safe?
Or the way you keep me from going off the deep end?
It’s both, of course, because God knows without you, I’d just be lost in the mist.
