I loved her dearly until I left.
My time had come as I sailed into the West
Through smoke and clouds, I lumbered on
To Heaven. Where else would I belong.

I watched the years pass slowly by
I watched her laugh, sometimes she'd sigh
It saddened me to see her cry
Yet, powerless to console, from up on high.

Alas, 'twas her time to visit me
To join me in this sanctuary
Her passing, not fraught with pain
She slumbered on slowly, everything to gain.

At the pearly gates a video played
The one in my head, of that sad escapade
I watched her wonder as she approached
What feelings did this vision provoke.

A sickening emptiness filled me with dread
As I watched her digest this video thread
I tried and tried to close it all down
To stop this vision before we both drowned.

Yet onward it streamed, into the light of day
And perpetrated itself in disgust and dismay
I saw her cry, her heart in two
The lover she loved, had loved not one, but two.

Her saddened face fell from my eyes
As her cheating husband was compromised
Only the once, but only one, required
All love and respect, instantly expired.

And so it was, at the end of our days
We lived as separate castaways
In this Heaven that turned into instant Hell
I became the colloquial infidel.
