My Valentine

A word that is so misconstrued in the world today,
Life and the world has us looking the wrong way.

We never celebrated like the rest of the world,
Our day is everyday and that's what it should.

To say that I enjoy the cliche part of the holiday is false,
Hallmark would say that it's just for us.

Now this is not to say that I do not adore my wife,
She is my soul mate and what I live for in life.

She makes me wanna enjoy what we have,
So to say I am the luckiest, I am only so glad.

From the true meaning of Valens in Latin I shall say,
We are couple who are strong, vigorous, and healthy,
This to us is just another day.

For one another we shall always be,
The life you gave and the one you give for me.

Eternal life is just the start,
But I alone cannot fit the part.
