Smooth skin, softly lit by moonlight.
A tragedy would be to close the curtains,
to block out that gentle blanket of rays.
Face smooth of day's worries,
eyes closed, that burning intensity cooled.
My body slips up against yours,
my aim to be to hold, not to waken.
Holding breath until I am certain,
sleep has you firmly in her grasp.
Yet, I am jealous of her allure.
My skin no longer smooth,
stretched by new life.
You never suggest disinterest,
you haven't changed though.
Curl in closer, holding tighter.
A rumble and you move,
rolling into me, pressing me beneath you.
I breathe deeply, cradelling your body.
Your hips between mine, your face against my breast.
I close my arms over you, my fingers in your hair.
Life... It stretches and reshapes.
Yet your love has never changed.
Even in sleep you hold me as you always have done.
I close my eyes, your body my blanket.
