The greatest part of me

came alive in your embrace.

I found my footing while

looking into your eyes.

I finally let myself breathe

when your deep kisses

took my breath away.

Together walking hand in hand

my fingers effortlessly filled

the spaces between your fingers.

I lost myself as I became

consumed through the act

of saving ourselves from ourselves.

I held my breath while

you fought against your

demons and fears,

always promising to be

on the other side of your

battle waiting for you.

I was fighting too, to save myself,

to show you, if only momentarily,

that the world made sense.

Wanting more than anything

to make you believe once again

that prayers are heard.

I believe good can prevail

against the evil in the world.

But tonight I realize

I cannot fight for my life

for you or for me any longer;

my final prayer is only for tomorrow.

Tomorrow has to be enough

for this fight to be one I can win.

Loving you tomorrow

is enough for me now.

I will celebrate loving you

again when I wake up tomorrow.

Then with new resolve I will fight
