That you'd catch me if I fell?

I believed.
Hoped.
So desperately hoped 
That your words rung true.

I jumped. 
Ignored my screaming brain,
Ignored the gnarly hands 
That tried to hold me back.
Ignored the dark hole,
filled with skulls and bones,
Of which you dug.

Fell a thousand feet, 
Maybe more

The dark hole continued on;
Kept falling,
With nothing to break my fall

Hope. 
It made me jump.

A promise, that rung so true
Turned out to be a lie.

Broken bones and broken heart
Broken trust and broken mind
That was all you gave me.

Don't make promises
You can not keep.
