I want you to discover me.
I want you to pull back all the weeds and the foliage
that have overgrown and tangled about my throat,
to uncover the clear jewels, gleaming
the bright sound of water running,
warm earth on bare feet
the arch of my constellation,
the sweet sound where the surf draws back
and for an instant
washes you out of Dream.
Watch it now as it curls back in on itself
like a serpent breathing...
and you are there breathing in the night
woken as if from the same place as when
the surf drew back,
that place where the earth trembles
and something is let go
stars shake
and you are still there breathing
and listening
as the waters of night move slowly over you
like a dark lover,
she lowers herself down to kiss your forehead
that place where the soul leaves right after death.
This is the place I want you to find me.
The place between the in breath and the out breath
the place of deep nothingness and calm
where the surf draws back and back and back...
to the sound of no shore
