Four children, grandmother six times over. Hey, it's better to be a "has been" than a "never was"! Filipino ancestry, but grew up "white" in the rural USA. Currently I work as an elementary school teacher, but plan to retire in 2021.

I enjoy some stories here, but they need to be realistic in some way for me to appreciate them. Perhaps I will be motivated to write my own coming-of-age stories loosely (very loosely) based on my own life experiences. The interface between reluctance and desire is one that appeals to me.

My avatar is a symbol that enjoyed a brief vogue a couple of years ago when some courageous Iranian women decided to discard that symbol of female servitude known as the hijab. And yes, I know that many women are comfortable with it- I have no problem with their attire. But women throughout the world have been shamed, blinded, horrifically mutilated, and even murdered for that courageous act of independence. I hope that, particularly women here, will spare a thought for our sisters who have been so oppressed.
