Butthurt is an attitude. Butface is a name. Lol.

Actually your writing is good. Keep on submitting and I'm sure the recognition will come. Hang in there.

Thanks, but once again it was not about me as I am pretty new here. If I really was worried, why would I make myself a target for people to hold grudges who dislike open honest discussion???? The few taking the cheap shots are probably people I have nor will ever deal with, just be respectful to others please. This was for other writers who didn't want to wear a target, I could care less, at least you aren't using real ammo lol.... To all writers, just do your thing and do it for yourself first.

To Sprite, I have enjoyed my dealings with most Mods, anything more just message me if you really care for feedback.
I spent most of my adult life being paid to hurt people for a living. People who did nothing to me other than being in the wrong place. Now, here I am in a whole new world teaching and wish hurting some asshole was legal. Nothing worse than internet cowards, just pray for karma and my anger to blow over.
Three motorcycles and travel are my splurge....
After being wounded and spending nine months is a hospital watching soldiers not as lucky. My fear is letting them down, because I live for them as well.
In honor of Armed Forces Day.....

For Green Beret Staff Sgt. Michael McClintock, may God always have your six... Husband, father, soldier and friend...
Alexandra and Declan, never be afraid or feel alone, you are part of our family always. Remember only real men wear the beret.

I can't believe you're really gone

You've been called home
Please tell me I am wrong
The music is still playing
Your scent still strong

People call you hero
This may be true
Husband father lover friend
Titles my heart knew

Your little boy Dec
Never meeting is sad
He has your eyes
You're his hero dad

You promised me today
Tomorrow plus one more
Always wanting the safety
Just to be sure

All that's left are images
Comforting like soft rain
Movie so life like that
It eases the pain

My mind a canvas
Shared memories of bliss
A paintbrush of emotion
Filling the empty abyss

All alone, I feel you close
Talking can you feel
Emotional voyage on edge
No timetable to heal

My eyes still water
Flowing down the cheek
Can't seem to stop
Can't fix this leak

True love defined us
So special a godsend
Dancing to our song
Never envisioned an end

You memory lives strong
Always within my heart
Promise never broken
Forever will carry on

Today: Forever died

Changing this to submit...

If you're worried about the readers' opinion of your work, all you can do is post it and take whatever compliments or criticisms come your way, just like everyone else.

If your concern is that the moderator might shitcan your story for being unusual, you need to now that when a story is unusual to or outside of the comfort zone of the mod that draws it, or when we have questions about it possibly pushing the envelope, it is rarely the "One person's trash/treasure" rule.

Very often stories that are "different" or which might push the boundaries (you know, "personality and intrigue"...) in some way engender a very lively discussion in the moderator's forum. We might question if the story is truly erotic, if it gives off a bad vibe, if the writing style is something we can accept, if it comes too close in either fact or intent to crossing into banned content or any number of other things. The mod that draws the story to verify can (and often does) post a thread regarding such stories in the moderator forum, seeking input from the rest of the team. Opinions can (and do) vary widely, but usually we can reach a consensus on whether to publish the story as-is or with minor editing, return the story for major revisions, or outright reject it.

Sometimes we don't agree, and then the senior mods might step in to provide guidance. Other than for routine things like grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and just basic writing quality it's actually quite rare for a story to get returned without more than one set of eyes looking at it.

You'd be amazed at how many stories that end up getting returned for things controversial have been read by most of the team before that decision was made. So, as you can see, there is little to fear from the "One person's trash" conundrum.

You always seem to have a good perspective on issues, wish you posted more.

So you created a thread about how you don't get RR's just to tut-tut about how you don't need RR's because you get paid to write?

LOL.

So much butthurt, I can't compute.

This was never about me getting anything, plenty on other sights.... If you read at all, this was about being open... Wow butthurt lol.... Name calling just seems so trivial, by a mod too tsk tsk lol...
Thanks for civil discussion, good to see tough subject treated with discussion, not idiocy by most of you. As for mediocre writing, next time I cash my check for the words I put together, I will laugh just a bit. 99% of those writing do it for free, so my validation can be put in the bank lol....

Like I said above, if authors had shopped where I worked, I wouldn't have wanted my name on a RR shelf. I would have gotten nothing done all day except explaining my preferences to the authors that didn't make my list. Which, I would imagine is why the RR remain anonymous.

You just answered the obvious, open RR, no need to explain... You say mods work hard which is true, but so do a lot of writers who deserve to be noticed... Thanks for trying...

When I worked at a bookstore, I had a recommended read shelf with my name on it. That's how I see the award here--a mod put my story on their shelf.

At the bookstore, I never had to justify my choices; I could switch them out as often as I liked. It was one of the few delights of holding a minimum wage, crap, customer service job. The mods don't even get the minimum wage part.

Yes, but everyone knew they were your choices. Here it is not so clear. Yes the mods do good work, being open would help them as well.... This was not to bash anyone, just trying to fix what many see as an issue.
I am not really sure if this is the right place in forums to post this topic, or if it should be brought up at all. My guess is this topic is discussed in private among friends where nothing really gets done or changes. Bringing up how RR works or doesn't may cause me to lose a few friends or who knows, make a few, but after hearing at least four friends this week alone talk on the subject I wanted my questions and thoughts public.

I, like many, see the same small group of people getting a majority of recgnition with some stories barely posted before the symbol appears. The one that caused my concern is when a friend showed me a story that had been up for sometime when she friended a Mod, the next day the story had a RR. I am, nor would I ever accuse a Mod of wrong doing, but by not being open about who chooses what, too much is in question.

So wondering if this was just sour grapes on my part, I took twenty pieces from this sight to the Lit Professor's I work with to ask their professional opinion. Ten pieces were RR and ten were pieces I had read that were not recognized here on Lush. Only two pieces of the ten RR, were picked as top pieces by one teacher, the other just three. I am not a math major, but that is 12.5 % of the pieces declared RR being picked by pros with no bias or nepotism involved. The few who did really well in judging were told, because their work deserved me sharing the good news. If anyone wants to know what pieces won the judging, p!ease message. The pieces that did not will never be shared because this isn't about making any one person feel bad.

So instead of just bitching or causing hurt feelings, I was always taught to brings answers to questions if you have an issue. So with all this being said, here are a few ideas that some of us discussed in private. Agree or disagree, but please be polite as this is just my idea of starting good open communication. Below are a few ideas we liked as a group, many others were shot down... Last word by me, most writing here is done with a lot of effort and passion, so many good writers deserve to be recognized before they just give up or move on.

IDEA'S FOR RR.....

1. Any story or poem given RR, should include who gave the RR and a quick blurb as to why.

2. If a Mod gives a RR to one writer, they can't give a second one to same person for six months with no back tracking on stories.

3. No RR can be given to anyone on a friends list.

4. Readers be allowed to send personal favorites to Lush, bypassing Mods so that staff can make choice if worthy.

Many others, but these were the four all liked in some form...

With good intentions,
J
Thank her for giving me the push I needed...
Home from campaign finance reform conference finally lol... Four day coma....
