Hope you have a great birthday Ashley xxoo
Cigarettes After Sex. Last month about a week before their new album dropped. Amazing show..
Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Bullwinkle, Ren and Stimpy
My usual, a French press full of black coffee
I'll answer with what vinyl I have been spinning jazz-wise lately. Alice Coltrane- Journey to Satchidanda, Art Ensemble of Chicago-Great Black Music Message to our Folks, Sonny Rollins-Horn Culture, The Best of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Miles Davis- In A Silent Way, Charles Mingus-Pithecanthropus Erectus and Ah Um
Took my fiancé to see Jim Jarmusch's new zombie film The Dead Don't Die. An incredible cast (Bill Murray, Chloe Sevigny, Tilda Swinton, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Steve Buscemi etc.) that totally goes to waste. Filled with pointless scenes and monotonous dialogue. It's as if the movie is so drenched in irony it can't even bother to try. A big disappointment, both as horror and comedy.
Can't add much to what's gone before. Of course I haven't read every post on this thread but one people seem to be missing is the original (Romero) Dawn of the Dead (1973). Almost perfectly done. Scary as all hell zombie dystopia; laced with sharp, subtle social commentary. One of my favorites of any genre.
Blue is the Warmest Color for sure
I agree with Ayla on Below her Mouth
I disagree with Vanessa on Imagine You and Me, I thought it sucked
Cruising an interesting pick, I did like that one. Gritty late 70s NY vibe, great cinematography
Gia is one all of us have seen, a standard in the canon
Hedwig for sure
Carol is a good film but I was underwhelmed having read the book first. Everyone should read the Price of Salt by P. Highsmith
1. Elevator to the Gallows
2. Withnail and I
3. A Clockwork Orange
4. Dawn of the Dead (original)
5. Some Like it Hot
6. Suspiria
7. Blood for Dracula/Flesh for Frankenstein (yeah that's two)
8. Cronenberg's The Fly
9. MP's Life of Brian/Holy Grail (two again)
10. Night of the Living Dead (original)
Add my name to the list of those who perceive this as a very bad idea. It's simply created a bunch of problems that didn't exist before. I am invisible just so I don't get unwanted attention from random people but I have no problem if people know I am in the chat room. You go in chat you are going to have that limited degree of visibility and that is ok. Plus as Cas mentioned everyone is going to be going in and out of the chat room now, myself included, just to see who is in there, if certain friends are there etc. so the names list has become irrelevant and meaningless. Please please please go back to the old way!!
