For me living it has to be Jimmy Page.....The man is a god! I once not only heard him play "Stairway" in a local pub, but bought him a double JD for which he just nodded his head in recognition. I thought myself a quite cool guy at the time, but that bloke is a master.
My sleep varies between two and six hours a night. I would love to sleep more but i just cannot.

What you're saying though is that we shouldn't even presume to debate the subject.

On the contrary. Debate is one of the healthiest pursuits of the mind.

What I am saying is that no thought has really gone in via this debate to the creators.

Somebody designed the mark, They were probably quite proud of it. It was then probably approved by some other people....Who lets face it, probably help run this site without getting any wages for doing so. Gav then had to spend some time coding, to allow the badge to be used. We are already talking probably over 12 man-hours worth of work. It just seems a little ungrateful to me that it is now being run down by a select few.

This site is a community but not a democracy. The site is Nicola's.....And long may she continue with it.

Who are we? We're the end users! Without end users there isn't any point to development.

If this how Google put stuff out for testing, no wonder they fail so spectacularly whenever they try to launch their own social networking tools

Currently there are 4655 active users on this site!

So far there has been in this thread around five or six people complaining. Would you change your software on the basis of a what a handful of users do not like, or would you look at the 4649 who have found no cause for complaint?

The economics are obvious.

The team here very obviously DO care, or they would not keep making improvements to what is a very well put together site.

Sometimes you have to just realise that some people do not like change. No matter what improvements you make, These people will still find fault.

What's the point of giving it to you then? When I hand stuff out to testers I want them to tell me how everything about it works for them - even at beta testing stage. And if there's something wrong with it for them - no matter what it is - they should tell me. It's then up to me to decide whether their concerns are valid or helpful. User experience is holistic, it's not just if a button does what it says it should.

It is never in the remit for the testing. They are interested in whether the product works, Not in whether or not it is aesthetically pleasing.

The same thing applies here. We are not being asked to comment on whether or not we like the symbol. The Lush admin and design team designed, coded and have voted to use it. Who are we to question them?
Sorry, I am probably only speaking from my perspective over here......We tend to use the tick throughout our national agencies etc, to demonstrate excellence. In fact UKAS (UK accreditation service) uses the tick as their main symbol.

I guess what I am trying to say is the tick in this case, is a new way to provide recognition of something well done. I think on a personal level, that any encouragement that a person can get is a good thing.

Again, my other point is that the management of the site did not open the designing of the new award to offers..... They just decided that they were going to implement what they saw as a step forward as part of the continual improvement of the site. Who are we to argue the point?......It certainly did not cost us anything!
Well I actually like the check...(Working as a quality professional, the check sign is universally known as something of good quality). I appreciate that it is not everybody's cup of tea, but I think that it probably took Gav quite a bit of time and effort to get it right and I think that we should all just sit back and appreciate another new feature that has been served up to us.

I do a lot of beta testing for various bits of google software. I would never think that it is my right to question their logos, buttons or reasons behind the software....I do it, because it is an honour to be asked and I appreciate the fact that they are trying to make peoples online experiences a little better.

So on behalf of me.....I appreciate all of the new features and know just how much coding it must have taken!!
When at the end of an evening nightclubbing, there was always an erection section to finish off the night. Slow dances with the girl of your choosing to the latest slow song.......

Hearing his heart almost break when he shouts the final notes, kills me every time. It is made even more poignant when you understand that he died one year after recording this at the ripe old age of 27.
Well unless he has changed job recently and has started working in some military capability, then I can see no normal need to do so.
I would ask him outright. If he is still cagey, then I am afraid that it does sound highly suspicious and I would bail while you can. I am sorry for the blunt reply, but that is how I see it.

Good Luck
I adore Red Wine but i can honestly say that I have no favourite. I forever change the types I buy as I hate sticking with one grape or producer. My favourite wine producing country at the moment however is tied. it is between Sicily and Chile. They are both making extraordinary reds currently.
I love this book. It is definitely Hardys greatest. But then I am a wessex man and as it is set here, it has more appeal.
Well i have grown one for Movember, the trouble is, having a shaved head, I now look a little like Fu Manchu....xxx
Bring on December, so I can shave it off again!!!
I value every comment truthfully, but the most humbling one was from the fabulous "Swollen" when she left this comment on my poem "You"

"Alpha, this is without doubt the best poem I've read on Lush. To capture such emotion in rhyming verse requires the ability to knit words with imagination and skill - you've done just that. Beautiful and heartfelt x"
