May he rest in peace.

I hope it was painful.

Aren't you a cheery guy!

You know, I don’t think I really have to qualify why a war criminal responsible for mass bombings of Southern Asia should suffer. I wish nothing but the worst forms of hell for him.

Quote by Ironic

From immigrant to Army sergeant to National Security Advisor to Secretary of State. Quite a resume. R.I.P.

Ordering 9 billion pounds of munitions dropped on Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Responsible for at least 6 million civilian deaths we know about, estimates around 15 million on the high end. The forming of the militant Arabic state and funding far right religious extremists who now rule the region. Wiping out a quarter of the population in East Timor. Gave the green light to apartheid in South Africa. Countless dead in South America including funding of far right death squads responsible for butchering countless civilians. Quite the resume.

Won't be missed.

All of that was caused by Kissinger? And nothing at all would have happened without his say-so?

“If Hitler hadn’t led the movement someone else would have killed the Jews.”

See how stupid that sounds?

Quote by Ironic

You said it, not me. But if it makes you feel better to assign responsibility for all those terrible activities to one person, go for it!

Nah man, you’re putting words in my mouth. The military tyranny of the US is lots of people’s faults. Kissinger just proved you can commit some of the worst war crimes ever ordered by one man and still die a hero in America. For example, there are these two guys named Coco and Ironic who are singing his praises…

Quote by Ironic

You were the one with the Hitler reference, remember?

If the "tyranny" is many people's fault, why have you decided to blame Kissinger for I'm?

"Singing his praises"? No, but I don't blame him for what, as you've admitted, "is lots of people’s faults".

You don’t blame him for being the strategist behind massacres of civilian armies? So you don’t blame Hitler? He’s a conscientious scapegoat, it was lots of people’s fault? C’mon. Man was a monster. Is this who you want to be? The guy defending the mass bombing of civilian targets?

The imbecile club being Kissinger fans is so predictable and funny.

To give an impression of what a swell guy he was, and perhaps also give some context to RowanThorn's comparison to Hitler, here's a small quote from his Wikipedia page:

In 1973, Kissinger did not feel that pressing the Soviet Union concerning the plight of Jews being persecuted there was in the interest of U.S. foreign policy. In conversation with Nixon shortly after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir on March 1, 1973, Kissinger stated, "The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy, and if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern." He had a negative view of Soviet Jewry, calling them "self-serving bastards." He went on to state that that "If it were not for the accident of my birth, I would be antisemitic" and "any people who has been persecuted for two thousand years must be doing something wrong."

You're the one who said it's "lots of people’s faults". You're the one who's then saying, "So you don't blame Hitler". Contradict yourself much? You're also the one who's calling a Nobel Peace Prize recipient a monster. You're also SOMEHOW extending your opinion about Kissinger to what you think I want to be? Seriously? Since I've not defended any of what you're criticizing Kissinger for, although you're the one who said it's "lots of people’s faults," I'm obviously not defending the mass bombing of civilian targets. Get real.

So what precisely is it that you're defending then?

“Just because I wrote a short memorial excluding all his murderous actions and wish d him a peaceful rest doesn’t mean I was supporting the guy.”

Yes you were. Also made multiple attempts to downplay the actions of one of history’s most notorious mass murderers because someone gave him a peace trophy while he was actively killing millions. Please. Just stop with your nonsense.

He’s a hero in your eyes. Your eulogy made it obvious.

At least you both agreed that he has quite a resume.

This is not how you eulogize a war criminal unless you are downplaying his crimes.

And your perverted logic doesn’t make any sense trying to turn your hero worship back on me.

Oh no, Rowan acknowledged many people were involved in war crimes! That must mean he thinks the orchestrator of those crimes is a hero? Please. You’re acting extra foolish today.

Your words are already out there and your reverence for the child killer is noted. If you are offended on how that makes you look maybe you should think twice before posting.

Ironic's eulogy for Hitler:

A devoted painter and published author. A vegetarian and true patriot. Proud of his heritage. Fought for his country and ideals. Led his nation for 12 years and tried to unite Europe, until he paid the ultimate price. Quite a resume.

You’re arguments are a perversion of logic. I’m done arguing with a Kissinger Stan.

Quote by Ironic

Is that a promise?

Episodic done arguing?

Imagine how they spoke up for and eulogized Idi, Saddam and Muammar. The Pol Pot celebration of life must've been grand!

Damn straight. He and Nixon were vicious thugs. I dread all the revisionist history we are about to hear, like we did when Nixon died. Thugs and killers, both of them. War criminals.

And someone who took FAFO seriously.

Claim there are communists, carpet bomb hundreds of thousands of civilians. Countries didn’t need to fuck around, just the rumors that people in the country did was the justification for bombing a children’s hospital.

And someone who took FAFO seriously.

Describing the Christmas carpet bombing of Hanoi just as peace talks were taking place as "fuck around and find out" is certainly unique. Kissinger declared "Peace is at hand" as he and Nixon played the mad king scenario and dropped tens of thousands of pounds of ordinance on innocent civilians for 12 days straight.

I'm not a pacifist, war is sometimes necessary, but that was closer to terrorism than statecraft.

Kissinger was almost universally despised. Here, he's celebrated as if he was a saint or a mastermind. Within the criminally minded Nixon regime, Kissinger had tons of clout and total leeway to conduct the war as he recommended.

He didn't coin the term collateral damage, but he certainly didn't give a shit about innocents in SE Asia.

By everyone who has studied history at all.

Unless they are also monsters who value American profits over millions of lives in other countries.

It was effective at getting everybody to the peace talks, wasn't it?

Cutting the hands off women and children was effective ways to get the Indigenous Americans to sign peace treaties. If you call that justification than you are a terrible person.

Peace talks were already taking place in Paris. A ceasefire had been declared. Nixon was punishing N Vietnam like a petulant parent, and trying to make the American public forget about Watergate.

I think they share the blame pretty equally. They both have blood on their hands
