Right?

This guy is going to take the world to mars, build our highways underground, link our brains up to the net, double our life spans, get rid of fossil fuels and save the earth from climate change; All while having a sense of humor and being an honest, nice guy.

I appreciate Elon using his mind and money to create and improve the world.

While minding his damn business and not trying to force politics and ideology on us (right Jeff Bezos?)

While some use their power to buy news papers, tv networks, politicians - so they can control the message and oppress the people, Elon is down to earth and just gets it done.

Thank you Elon, good to know there are still great men turning up through the generations.

You're thoughts everybody?

An admirable individual with lofty goals logically pursued. The most brilliant of us must be slightly insane to imagine such unimaginable things.

I don't know. I'm not into battery pack style cars--although, as a child, did drive a Power Wheels.

Still have it.

Welcome to 'Zombie Twitter'

Elon Musk has killed the one thing that made Twitter special

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

I was a fan back in the early Tesla and SpaceX days. After all, electric cars and private space travel are two s-f dreams that he helped get into everyday reality (they existed before him, but he certainly popularized them). However, since the Twitter/X purchase and with his growing tendency to waste time courting controversy rather than innovating, I've quite soured on the man.

Apes can talk dirty, too. Here's my entry in the "Dirty Talk" competition. Read it and let me know what you think. A virgin student gets a special present from his female housemate.

Same here. The guy is the perfect example of why you should not want people to be able to gain this much wealth/power.

Several companies, including IBM and Apple, have suspended advertising on Twitter, and the White House has denounced Musk.

The White House and corporate America have it in for Musk, not because of his ill-advised (to say the least) tweet, but because they disapprove of Twitter’s free speech orientation. They want more moderation; specifically, they and anti-establishment voices stilled.

Like this, I mean read this out loud... Everyone disapproves of free speech... lol, just trying to "farm attention" by regurgitating right wing talking points. It's what he does everyday, weird and a little sus...

Wouldn't you rather have a nice cup of tea?

Yes. Probably for the same reason cops tend to stop people from shitting in the middle of the road. The right to defecate doesn't mean that other people should have to bear witness to it or deal with the mess left behind. But I suppose there will always be those who just want to wallow around in their collective shit.

Don't believe everything that you read.

Quite the opposite for corporate America. They aren’t anti-free speech here. They are practicing theirs. There’s this alt right idea that free speech and consequence free speech are the same thing, even though the latter limits the former.

They don’t want to invest advertising in a platform that promotes racism and antisemitism. Because consumers don’t want to buy from a company that invests in racist owned companies, this is actually one of the few ways the market is actually free. People use their buying power to punish a racist.

Boo how, the little rich boy must deal with the consequences of his actions. How horrible.

I feel as if you hit the nail on the head with this one. Free speech and consequence free speech are not the same thing. You do have the power to say whatever you choose, but your words come with judgement AND consequences.

Musk is very free speech and makes a big target. I'm not a big spaceship fan, but he's done the world a favor by freeing up who can say what on Twitter.

Elon Musk is not opening up eX-twitter to be more free speech, just changing the direction of censorship to push the narrative in the direction he wants.

Wow! People are so easily fooled-swayed by someone who speaks their preferences. The gullible masses have always been sheep.

And it is easier to sell if your name sounds like a cologne.

yep. it's super nice that he encourages bigotry, hate, and racism, all in the name of "free speech".

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

There's a user named "Ironic" who is single and ready to mingle... could be a love match.

Please stop implying that MsStep is also ElCoco, formerly known as Bread8/silverglaze. Not only is it irrelevant to the subject at hand, but it's a waste as these "conversations" about multiple accounts go the same direction, which is no where. Thanks.

Not sure what all you're talking about.

I just saw an opportunity for romance. MsStep might like the company of a gentleman like Ironic is all sheesh

Be that as it may, it has no place here. If you insist on playing matchmaker, take it to PMs. Please and thank you.

Why do you think it promotes racism?

Because groups that track this sort of thing have found an explosion of racist tweets and white nationalists twitter accounts since Musk changed the community guidelines and filtering process. This article is a year old and it’s gotten much worse since then. It’s also what most of the advertisers who abandoned the platform cite as the reason.

Their inaction to stop the growth of hate speech on their platform is a tacit approval of the content, or at the very least acceptance. If Musk as a private businessman is more concerned with appealing to Nazis than Disney he can accept the loss of revenue.

Acceptance of other POVs, even the ugly & nasty ones, is the price we pay for free speech. I know, I know, not everybody thinks that way, but I haven’t heard a reasonable alternative that’s not censorship. If the growth of hate speech is what you believe, I’ think it makes Musk’s vow to suspend accounts that engage in pro-genocide advocacy unexpected.

Elon banned the words "cis" and "cisgender"... lol

The concept of free speech arrived late in human history, and Musk is one advocate. It will be interesting to see how some people react. They’ve been denouncing Musk and Twitter for not acting decisively against “hate speech;” I suspect that in this case, they'll say, “That’s not the hate speech we meant!”

Musk is not pro free speech. He sues people all the time for what they say about him or his companies. He just wants censorship to be controlled to tailor his personal agendas.

He’s paid a lot of money to control the narrative and it pisses him off that people still call out his blood emerald funded ass.

Free speech stops well before libel and slander. That is why English has those nouns.

No, English has those nouns because the rich were anti free speech and wanted a way they could weaponize the legal system against citizens.

And he will sue over facts, not made up shit. He has never walked the walk of a free speech advocate. He’s a scared little boy who attacks anyone who disagrees with him.

Here is the government abusing its power to stop free speech. It's not okay to report on or criticize Elon Musk according to Ken Paxton. Reporting exactly what Elon Musk did and said is not Libel. Musk is just mad he was put on blast and lost even more advertisers because he isn't being allowed to be a 50 year old edge lord in peace.

Republicans and Elon Musk are the opposite of free speech advocates. Ultimate hypocrites, like always.

That’s right, you’re on my ‘do not engage’ list. Your ‘nuh-uh’ form of debate and belief that opinions and lawsuits are facts is too weak to lend any credence to. Sorry for wasting my time.
