NIN Used to be real cool.
I'm afraid that I can't say that I've ever been as "close" to the scene as some of you guys here, but over the years I've had the privilege to see and hear:
Crosby & Nash (after the CSN&Y breakup, before the reunion, after the etc.)
Gordon Lightfoot
Jethro Tull (in the 80's) and Ian Anderson (just last year - he is still amazing)
Simon & Garfunkel (not nearly as good live as they were in the studio, apparently)
Joan Armatrading (at Carnegie Mellon in the late 70's)
Eric Clapton (absolutely phenomenal)
Sting (OK, but slightly disappointing)
Peter, Paul and Mary (OK, I'm REALLY dating myself here...)
Garbage (surprisingly good live)
Ian Anderson's still rocking, eh?
Rocco -
Ian Anderson is amazing. He has the energy of a 20 year old. His voice also seems to have held up well with time. And his music is still as different from anthing else as it ever was.
I generally hesitate when old rockers come to town - too much chance to be disappointed. I'd rather have the "original" stay fresh in my mind. But I made an exception here, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Welcome, Jasper. We do have threads about "sexy music", etc., but not about writing to playlists.

Pearl Jam- before they got big *awesome* one of the best nights of my youth.
REM- sonic youth opened and they sucked live, REM was having a bad night. They were still good, but messed up on the lyrics and then berated the audience for applauding. Kind of douchy.
Dee-lite- super fun small show. Broke my platform heel I danced so hard.
MC Hammer- don't judge me, I WAS an 80s girl. Surprisingly good. I have never seen another human with moves like that or that kind of stamina. He humped the stage for hours.
White Stripes- jack white kills on guitar and I would have his baby.
Muse- always a fun gig every time. The pipes on that man!
Dave Matthews band- best part was I met a whole huge SUV full of little people. Little people love Dave.
Barry manilow-such a great show. I love me some Manilow baby.
