In the relatively short time I have been on Lush I have seen two friends leave without any word. One of them had deactivated her account and has since returned, to my great joy. I think if circumstances were to cause me to leave I would definitely send word out to my friends with as much information as possible.
Will, you have taken the high road with your upcoming leave of absence. I hope others look at your example and decide to go out with a touch of class, as you have shown all of us. Good luck, my friend. I anxiously await your return.
I have managed to gather together a small, but very fine group of friends on this site - all of which would leave a big hole if one was to leave. I have their personal email and they have mine. I would hope that if any of my friends were to leave for whatever reason we would still keep in touch. It wouldn't be the same4, to be sure, but it would be better than losing them completely.
That being said, I don't want to see any of them leave Lush as I enjoy all my friends very much!
In the 2 years I've been a member of lush, I've had a lot of friends just disappear. Some say goodbye, most don't. Sometimes it's because a partner found out about the account and didn't like it so they delete, sometimes it's because they may have become close to another member and that didn't work out, so they leave. Some just get tired of the drama. Some move on to something different. There may be very personal reasons for people to leave Lush and they would rather not explain it to anyone so they just delete without saying a word.
It's a very emotionally charged site, and where emotions come into play... anything is possible.
It's the damn Internet. People have all sorts of reasons for deleting their accounts, and while it would be nice to know why, I don't spend a great deal of time agonising over it. It is what it is.

Mixed feelings. On the one hand, I may have been hoping they would turn into true friends, and I become disappointed that they would just leave with neither warning nor farewell, because like most people, I've had enough disappointments with the human race. But on the other, given the indifference of their departure, they were obviously not a true friend anyway and I won't be expending my time and energy on someone who really doesn't care about me. So peace unto them and Godspeed.
I agree, it's absolutely sad. Especially when you had exchanged thoughts with the LS internet friend. Certainly not everyone would terminate a relationship with just an empty silence... but hey, it is still a huge part of internet behavior.
... about enriching the profile with this pledge: In the event of me deleting my account, you my LS friend can rest assured that you will notified.
If you put the pledge, you would probably never leave without a goodbye anyway.. but the pledge its for the friends.

Life is simple; we are what we eat and what we read. Talk is superfluous.
I would love to know what happened to them...I am a worry wart.
Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed. Sadly, one of my dearest friends, kittyrita2, has left Lush tonight. The departure was sudden, and without explanation. Her husband had just joined and they appeared to be quite happy here. She has my e-mail address, so I am hoping to hear from her. Unfortunately, I do not have hers, or I would be in contact with her now. I, too, have a small circle of friends and her departure has left an enormous hole in my heart.
It happens .... I do wish there was a little notice sent via email. I suppose it would be a nice thing for someone to let you know they are deleting their account, but a lot of people delete their accounts on a whim, in the heat of the moment.... oh well ...
Hurray! I have my friend's e-mail now and we exchange messages regularly.
I am glad for you. That was so important to me when the same thing happened to me.
I agree, it only takes one person to offend another enough for them to delete their account =/ hopefully they do post a farewell before they leave.
This is a thing that just happens. Life happens and sometimes people want to disappear. Getting a new job, being found by somebody you didn't mean to be. There are any number of reasons to abandon a Lush profile, and I firmly believe it's a person's right to disappear or be forgotten. I have had to pull this on much more of my life than Lush to shake off a stalker - another valid reason, by the by.
It would be sad to get used to someone then find them gone. If I do go through a phase that may lead to time away I would let people know.
Yeah I know just one friend but others may miss me I guess.
Is anyone else here enjoying the irony of the number of posts on this thread from "Guest"?

Why not read some stories instead
NEW! Want a quick read for your coffee break? Why not try this... Flash Erotica: Scrubber I too, have had a lady friend just up and disappear. We chatted and had fun together on a number of occasions. And then about two months ago she just up and disappeared. no more account, no nothing. Oh well, life goes on.
As others have said, people come and people go. I think the ones that bother me more than just an account suddenly disappearing, are the ones that just stop coming to lush. the account is still there, but the person just never comes on again. really makes me wonder if something happened to them. I suppose it is nice to let your close friends know, if you can, that you are leaving and why and perhaps establish another line of communication. But I often find that the people who send out announcement after announcement are just looking to see if people will tell them not to go, then after a few weeks, they announce they have decided to stay. Sometimes it does become necessary to take a break, and that is when the deactivate account is good.
You know, sometimes you just have to cut your losses and go. Or pare the friends list down.
I think people got different reasons why they leave lush.. some would like to take the quiet exit and just leave, does it mean they don't care enough to say goodbye to friends?! hell no!!! maybe saying goodbye is hard and one just have to cut immediately to stop the bleeding..thus the exit.. some do bid farewell and its nice to be having sort of closure and not left wondering WTF happened to such person.. but I always keep a positive mind.. someday our paths will cross again, we already found each other once..
Does anyone know what happened to imyourhuckleberry?
I am certainly guilty of disappearing and reappearing. Don't know why but one times I am just tired. Sorry That I cannot come up with a better answer.
It is up to each individual to handle cyber friends or real friends in the way they please.
To suggest that Lush should inform members of deactivated accounts is ludicrous and would go against privacy laws.
