What books are in your "reading list" for the near future?
This is kind of an off-shoot or "child" thread of the "what are you reading right now" thread, but I felt it was different enough to deserve it's own thread.
I don't have a scheduled list or anything, but I do have a notebook page with a checklist, to make sure I don't forget what I wanted to read. Below are a handful I plan to read over the next couple months or so, hopefully ha ha ha. Some are re-reads and some I have never read before:
- Don Quixote (currently reading), by Miguel de Cervantes and Edith Grossman (sp? don't have in front of me)
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, by Philip K. Dick (story that inspired Blade Runner)
- , by Vladimir Nabokov. subject, but greatly written and some of the best sentence structure anywhere. A lot is lost in translation from Russian to English, so I plan to read the annotated version, and maybe some things will make more sense to me this time around.
- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter S. Thompson. Haven't read it in four or five years, would like to re-read it soon.
- Eros The Bittersweet, by Anne Carson. I won't lie, it was referenced on the first season of The L Word, and I thought I should read something outside my normal field of vision.
- Catcher In The Rye, by JD Salinger. Haven't read it since high school, would like to read it again.
- Enders Game, by Orson Scott Card.
