I like them, if done properly. Most of my back is tattooed, but I can easily cover that if I don't want people to see.
I've seen a lot of poor quality design and poor quality tattooing, that's unlikely to look good.
It's a very personal thing, but I do think people don't put enough thought into what they're putting on their bodies and where...
I have 2 and I bloody love my tats, I think small discreet tats are sexy I have a small dolphin diving over celtic on my bum and a blue rose on the left side of my back just below my shoulder, im thinking of getting another, either lower back or tummy one, not sure yet haven't decided.
I think to use a percentage as the preferred method of measurement means you must have a sleeve, joining pieces that cover up a lot of space, or large mural type pieces. Not a fan of sleeve type artwork on myself, it's fine for others and it looks good. It's just not for me. Some people have tattoos for the art, some for experience, some for "the look", some for the story they tell, and some for symbology. All are fine, it's a personal decision. I am the latter. Each one of my tattoos represents something, and there are many. However, most never see them when I wear normal clothes. It's not until I go to the beach, for a run, or have another reason to remove my shirt that they can be seen. Except on my forearm if I wear short sleeves.
Also, I love when women have tattoos, especially when they follow a woman's curves. It's beautiful.
I have one on my ribs that is actually the quote in my forum signature. It's white ink, so its barely visible unless you look closely. I plan to get it redone in black and plan to get more :P
I think tattoos should mean something to the person and that quote perfectly described me at that certain point in life.

For women fine lines and colours look good. I have four that are scattered over me. They have very deep meaning and it's a choice to wear them as a memory and honour.

19 and counting. 18 are Dr. Seuss and the 19th is a battlefield cross with a battle worn flag background. I love ink and it can be a huge turn on. That being said bad ink is a huge turn OFF.
