Good morning everyone.

A tiny hangover, but nothing to complain about. I had a Manhattan! I've been wanting to try one of those for years.

I hope everyone had fun last night. Cheers. I will have some coffee.

Comp over at Stories Space is going strong! Only 1000 words! Show us your stuff. No, not THAT stuff.

Let's get some caffeine going.

Lights are flickering, flickering … and … they're ON.

I can see Lady Dryad's ministrations haven't been for naught, despite our best efforts, and we're ready to go – although I think we could use some more peanut shells on the floor.

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Red Rose and Irish breakfast teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is serving up a storm.

Today we're using Kick Ass Coffee beans from Kicking Horse Coffee Roasters, just because.

I've put out donuts.

Plus I've got a nice selection of Danish for everybody.

A Darjeeling and one of those lemon tart looking things. I started a new Lush story this morning. A weird bit of magic realist erotic fantasy. You'll hopefully see what I mean if I take this through to a finish. Not sure if I can finish before my vacation, which starts a week today (in fact, I'll be on the road by this time next Saturday). I don't really have an ending worked out, yet, just a vague idea of where it should go.

Its a balmy -13C/8F here but sunny so I will need sunscreen before I go outside. Coffee for me please and maybe a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps when I get back.

Seeker: I am with you on not having to shovel rain. I like shoveling snow but that packed frozen mess the snowplow leaves gets tiresome fast.

There's a frozen spiderweb in the back yard, but I'm too lazy to take a pic of it, so I will instead leave you with a pic of the new Sentinel space ship I nabbed today in No Man's Sky. Which is the only thing I've done today. It took hours. I renamed it The Argo.

Friends …

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that one of our own – PJH – died last month in England.

He had leukemia and lingered, so it is perhaps a relief that he no longer suffers.

It hurts when it's someone you know – and didn't get a chance to say good-bye.

But it's also a tap on the shoulder. Tempus Fugit – time is fleeting, and you should embrace what you have.

So, for today, no grousing about the weather, the coffee, or even the Bear.

Appreciate what we have, and make the most of it.

And a toast – to PJH!
