Okay, we've been cooking up a storm, so I'm going to start laying out the food.

As promised, in the spirit of sweets for the sweet, we have:

Ham and turkey for all of you lot –  plus cranberry sauce, made from scratch by Lady Jay…

…roast potatoes, mashed potatoes (with butter), a salmon ring…

…roasted Brussel sprouts, green beans with slivered almonds and bacon, and a side of salmon for Miss Pixel. She can share if she wishes. Or not.

And for dessert, we have English sherry trifle, fruitcake made with Golden Syrup rather than treacle (Lady Jay prefers it), and for those who need a little bit extra, Kawartha Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream.

Plus, of course, a full bar. We're offering Winecrafter Chenin Blanc from South Africa as the House White, and Lab red from Portugal as the House red, but we have more expensive stuff if you want it.

There's some Jamaican Blue Mountain dark roast in Bertha. Made it extra strong in case the Bear needs a pickmeup.

For teas, there is Yorkshire Red and English Breakfast. Steeped them a bit strong, too.

Been watching year-end best album lists from various metal influencers and holy crap, I haven't heard of even half these bands/artists. I am really just scratching the surface of metal it seems. Some is black metal which I still haven't warmed up to, but there's some terrific stuff from genres I do like.

I got a super fancy Nintendo controller for Christmas and will spend the day playing No Man’s Sky. Does ANYONE here play this game? I am so taken with it.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Today we're using Peet's Holiday Blend coffee – and I still don't know why he can't spell his own name.

We've got holiday donuts going.

Plus I've got some of those bacon and cheese wraps that soak up excess alcohol – so you can fill up again.

The Stories Space judges. We just follow their decisions. (Edited) First place is 4, second is 3, third is 2, and top ten is a 1. Highest average number wins. Simple! If Blue team wins, they buy drinks at either here or Inspirations (without disclosing the wildly kinky, sex-crazed nature of the Red site of course). Ditto with Red team.

I played No Man's Sky ALL DAY yesterday. 180 hours into that game now. Today, I will slightly less lazy, but not by much.

BTW, fair warning – I have a new story brewing, along with the caffeine. It was the one I wrote first for the "Festival Flash" comp, but decided it wasn't what I wanted in a Christmas story. I'm just polishing it now.

Hey there, Bear. How's things? Is it as wet over your way as it is down here in the Southwest? Snow is gone save for some large banks and it's supposed to rain all day. At least yesterday was nice enough to get in a walk.

Just moved all my active stories to my Under Review folder. And deleted a couple that were redundant (i.e. drafts of drafts type of things). I have no interest in any of them right now and the one I was last plugging away it is getting a heavy overhaul in my notebook before I touch the draft anymore. I'll get something banged out for Kimmi's comp, I guess, and then maybe try some flash or something to get things moving. Oh, there's one Flash for here that is basically done so will probably get it back out and find a cover image for it. It's been done for a while, though, just didn't want it to distract from my comp entry since it is a second take on Minnie's day at the mall.😊

Home again after a very long red-eye flight. Not enough sleep. I had a lot of very unexpected fun and met some nice people. I also had time to polish a story I wrote earlier and submit it. My first fantasy story and I am a little nervous about it. Does everyone have exciting plans for New Year's Eve?
