Lights are on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up and we’re ready for Get-Fried-Day

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Red Rose and Darjeeling teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Today we're using Folgers for Fridays. Because it alliterates, and that's good enough for me.

There donuts. Nice ones, too!

Plus I've got some chocolate cake for y'all. There were originally three, but someone one of them went … away.

Hi everyone. phew, there's a remarkable number of drunks in here given the early hour. I may have misunderstood the site title.

I am working furiously on my Comp entry, now at a stellar 794 words. I suspect this will be yet another missed Comp. There should be a Comp for unfinished Comp stories.

I'm unlikely to finish what I started for this comp. There's just too much going on lately for me to do the theme justice. I was trying to see if I could turn my unfinished Noir Comp story from a couple of years ago into a Whodunit. It seemed to be working for a while until it didn't. Ah well!

I went to Disney with my hubby to visit some out-of-state friends for a couple of days. It felt good to spend time with them and take a little break from the frustration of the slow process of getting things repaired/replaced on our property after the hurricane hits. We took a walk along the beach on Thursday for the first time since we've been back from Europe, and it was so sad to see homes boarded up and pools destroyed.

On a happier note, I've been working on deciding what car I want, and I now have insurance money to use as a down payment. With a little luck I will be able to find a car this week. Fingers crossed. We thought we could wait it out another month, but the disaster relief rebate of $1000 will eventually expire, so I'm gonna make sure I don't miss out on that.

No, I haven't died or gone to my (shudder) reward, it's just that life has been … complicated of late.

I'm having problems with email. The ISP says it's not their fault, and Apple says it's not the hardware or software, so I'm guessing I've picked up a gremlin somewhere. And no, not the (gods forbid) automobile!

Lady Jay and I are heading into Toronto for a memorial service, then we're staying with friends, and I'm having lunch with my favourite former agent tomorrow to catch up.

But she accidentally dialled checking the time? I don't think that's even possible on my phone (Android) since it is locked and can only make emergency calls without unlocking.

Good morning. Bit dreary here but, hey, it is November. Getting two decent days in a row is something to celebrate.

Had to get going earlier than usual today due to an X-ray appointment. At least the tech was kinda cute, if young enough to be my kid.
