Rest in peace, Amy...you were always troubled but you had so much talent. I salute you!

Whatever fire burns is eventually quenched,
All of our lives are as the grass
that grows for a season, but
some lives are like the rose...

Bon Voyage...

A talented lady, for sure. Such a shame, the way her life turned out. I hope she finds happiness in the next life.

She joins The Crocodile Hunter on the list of those whose lifestyles made their premature death completely unsurprising. Good singer though, for sure.
What a waste of such a young life and immense musical talent. RIP
never really was a fan but was sort of appalled that within mins of the announcement of her death, jokes started coming on FB. couldnt believe the lack of empathy..
I think the real tragedy here is that, for all intents and purposes, she killed herself - it was a long, slow death, and all under the public's eye. So much talent squandered and wasted.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

She was an amazing creature, despite her flaws, who's voice could makes you forget everything else for several minutes while she sang. Sad sad news.

Nice post AngelHeart01.
What a phenomenon. Glad I made it past 27.
addiction to drugs and alcohol...so sad news
i am literally so sad hearing the news yesterday. i like had to sit down, i was so confused on what happend. her music is truley amazing and inspirational. yes she had an addiction but she was still a person who lived her life they way she wanted to live. Amy winehouse you are awesome and amazing R.I.Pheart

She was the only singer in recent memory that I felt could truly have been a voice for her generation, like Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon were for theirs. I was a huge fan. I hope she's finally found the peace that she was so obviously searching for.
This hit me very hard. She was truly talented and LOVED her music..her voice. So much soul. Truly a sad situation. RIP.

i was kind of shocked when i came home, i was like no way, shes so young though wtf... It really is very sad, and what makes it even more sad is the people saying negative stuff about her. It is so messed up, like yes clearly she did have issues with drugs and stuff, but everyone has their own issues because its all part of being human...
Holy fuck. I never liked Russell brand. Never ever. Thought he was just some pompous twit. Until this moment. Thanks for changing my mind, Xuani.

Sorry babe. We heard you.
Such a shame to lose such a talented but troubled person. I was not a fan of her music but I hate to see anyone leave us so young. It really is a strange thing about 27 for musicians. probably just a coincidence but still makes you wonder. I know my mom was a big Doors fan and I remember her telling me about hearing of Jim Morrison's passing on my second birthday. And now I see that Brian Jones died the day I was born. I am not sure why but that makes me feel even sadder about the loss of so many talented people.

This was brought to my attention today, written by Russell Brand. It's really touching.

Funny, I just came over here to post that...someone in the Poets group over on LinkedIn just shared that...

I just posted it on Facebook with this note...

Someone in the Poets group over on LinkedIn shared this...I agree with his premise about the way society treats addiction, though I'm not sure I agree that merely treating the addiction is the answer...I think addiction is a symptom of other issues personally...just my two cents for today...

Interesting read Xuani, thanks for posting it.

RIP Amy.
It's tragic that the so much genius in art often comes from self-destructive forces. Many artists who have a certain vulnerability and raw ability to touch a chord with people often nurture a dark side or chaotic sadness within. They leave an unforgettable wake behind them but are so often gone too soon.

People overestimate how 'easy' it is to overcome addiction, especially for someone working in an industry of enablers and promoters.

She was enormously talented and will hopefully be remembered for her contributions and spirit rather than her troubled personal life.
angelheart, I had no idea that so many of the musicians who died young were 27. Thanks for posting that.

That's a strange coincidence, especially since the number includes Robert Johnson. That makes me feel spooky.
