Denver needed to scale back the offense so much in order to make Tebow semi-successful. Him trying to run Peyton Manning's offense would be so comical.

That is true! Tebow trying to be Manning would be comical, but what I meant was for Denver just to keep him as a second string, I will never expect Tebow to be Manning. Manning is contracted for 5 years, but sitting behind Manning doesn’t sound all that bad. Other notable QBs have done it and went on to have successful careers. Steve Young sat behind Joe Montana, Young had a pretty nice career when it was his turn. Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre, Rodgers is pretty successful now. Tebow could’ve became a sponge sitting behind Manning, and maybe picking up a few things for when it would’ve been his turn.

Also, the NFL is a physical, violent, and barbaric sport. Stuff happens, by that I mean injuries. Denver will need backup QBs, not just Denver, every team needs them. Look at what happened with the Houston Texans last year, they actually went through all 3 QBs because due to injuries. So having Tebow as backup wouldn’t have been such a bad idea.

I understand the guy has a flaws for that position, in terms of playing under center, presnap reads, anticipating the throw, and mechanics. I believe he will eventually address those issues. He just needs time, not to mention the things I mention in an earlier post.
Tim Tebow vs Peyton Manning!!!! haha Mr. Goodie vs. Mr Party Animal. Peyton Manning's party reputation at the University of Tennessee lives on in infamy or glory depending upon your perspective. Maybe infamy according to one female. Tim Tebow on the other hand still claims to be a virgin. A VIRGIN? With thousands of nearly naked chicks running around that campus at the Lizard University in Swampville he didn't bang any of them? hmmm Have you see those chicks he is always out with? If a guy doesn't try to get some of that he's sick, impotent or gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved it in '07 when my Dawgs pounded Tebow in the ground! Though he did get us back on '08/09. I know that Tebow is extremely well liked and respected by teammates. Manning is respected though liked may not be a word used a lot. Manning is a proven NFL superstar but could be damaged goods. Only time will tell. Tebow is not a typical NFL QB in any sense of the word, but with the right team in a unique offensive scheme he might be able to win big. He definitely will not be successful in an NFL drop back passing game, and that is what bobble-head John Elway wants. Mr. Enormous Head and ego to match wants a clone of himself. Though how anyone could reproduce all those huge teeth and a mouth that big is beyond me.

I really should get out my old "Teabag Tebow' t-shirt. I wore it to The World's Largest Cocktail Party in 2007 and it worked. The Dawgs teabagged Tebow all game long.

PS. I am not a fan of the Denver Broncos at all but definitely kudos go out to Terrell Davis, Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XXXII. I saw Terrell Davis play when he was a Georgia Bulldog and have his autograph and a picture with him. I was a wee little kid.

I agree having a good backup QB is critical to being a winning team since injuries do happen, but the majority of times when your #1 QB goes down you are screwed anyway. The NFL is a QB league and when you have a guy like Peyton Manning who basically calls his plays at the line, then you have to rely on a guy like Tebow who cant throw, doesnt know how to run a complicated offense, not to mention he would be one highly paid back-up, you are inviting disaster. Denver is much better served with an experienced career back-up.

I know you are Georgia fan and have the anti Florida bias and maybe a little jealousy built in, but this is a totally uncalled for comment. If Tebow wants to wait for marriage, more power to him!!
The comment is meant to be humorous. Have some humor people! Do we all have to start running our comments by some GOP right-winged speech control committee for sanitation?

I am sure I do have a bias against Florida. Experiencing their fans pissing in cups and tossing it at you kind of leaves a a little bit of prejudice! Not to mention when I was 11 years old and with my 70-something year old granddad and we got cornered by a dozen drunk gator fans (20-30ish age) who threw beer bottles at us and missed my head by an inch or two! On the other hand I do have some fun and decent friends who are gators. Some of them do have some class.

If it was meant to be funny, then its cool. So sorry!! Didnt mean it like you were anti-gay or anything. But lets not crucify the guy because he is a virgin. I agree that it is kind of hard to believe, I am sure he has had girls thrown at him since he was a kid. But if he truly believes he should wait, then good for him!
On a serious note on Tebow, more power to him if he can hold out because of his beliefs. He is actually a very classy guy, a great competitor, classy to opponents and I applaud his Christian strength.

David Pollack, an All-American defensive end in the early 2000s for UGA was much like Tebow and outspoken about being a virgin and a Christian. He asked his college sweetheart to marry him outside the building where he was getting the Bednarik Award or the Lombardi Trophy (I forget which, he won them both.)

But I do reserve the right to poke and insult gators at anytime. This is an inalienable right of any true SEC fan to insult our rivals. It is an old and hallowed tradition in the deep south where college football is like a religion. I have certainly taken my abuse from rivals....physical and verbal. You can add Auburnoids, Bama, LSU, Tenn, the cocks, Kentucky, Hogs, etc and even the termites of GA Tech to that list.
The media went on full Tebow overload last season. Can you imagine how much worse it will be if he becomes successful and popular in the country's largest market? I like Tebow, but i'm not looking forward to Tebow news 24/7.

Its been non stop here since the trade. Media is making the Jets look even more clueless than normal!!
I am not happy. Manning will never play at the level he once did. Tebow has the potential to be a franchise qb....pat and john are idiots and I never thought I would say that about Elway....

A little update ..... and btw ... Tebow has been very classy in this move. just saying ... smile

Several coaches voiced their opinion on whether the Jets’ move — the most significant offensive addition in the AFC East — is more substance than style.

“Obviously that guy has a skill set that levels the playing field in short yardage and goal-line and situations like that,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “We’re talking about a guy who can run the ball and can run the ball between the tackles. He’s capable of moving piles but at the same time is a legitimate quarterback.”

The Jets will force teams to prepare for a conventional offense when Mark Sanchez is at quarterback, the Wildcat when they line up Tebow behind center and the unknown when Tebow is in the game but not behind center. He could be the H-back, tight end, fullback, tailback, all kinds of possibilities with no guarantee any of it will work.

Broncos coach John Fox knows that Tebow can be effective. He was responsible for getting the Broncos to the playoffs last season. “That style of offense proved to be problematic,” Fox said.

Tomlin found out Tebow can toss the ball accurately every now and then in the wild-card round when he saw his defense give up an 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime.

“Situationally, that creates issues and problems and really gives the offense a leg up in some of those down and distances,” Tomlin said. “I imagine, at least on the surface, that could be a place where they can begin.”

Can it work when the Jets have basically guaranteed that their backup quarterback will get on the field every game? That’s two quarterbacks operating different systems. “Sure it can work,” Tomlin said. “It’s the ultimate team game. Those are good issues from a coaching standpoint to have.”
