I used to get really bored in highschool so in the classes where we had our own computer I used to read erotic stories. It's just text on the screen so my teacher thought I was all about my studies. I was always drawn towards sex scenes or dirty parts in books when I was really young, so I just sought out more and more. I admit, I was more into surfing porn than reading erotica online growing up... In school my best friend would flip through my books looking for the sex parts. We would giggle and then get books from the library to see how dirty the books in our school library could get. I always knew I liked romance novels only because of their dirty parts since I was about 13- I can even tell you which one - Chapter 8 in Nora Robert's "Honest Illiusions". (The main female protagonist gets deflowered by a mysterious dark haired hunk). I almost still never touch romance novels - I always flip to the "hot" parts and leave the book unpruchased at the bookstore.
The next big break throught came at 16, when I was a volunteer at an AIDS/ Women's Health Clinic. In their library is a copy of My Secret Garden. It's not sex writing per se, but it's close enough. Let me tell you my mom hit the roof when she found my copy.

My appreciation for sex stories started in my childhood. I think the first erotic story I ever encountered was when I was about 10: Greenleaf Classics -- "The Autobiography of a Flea". I was quickly hooked and was contantly looking for other erotic stories. Starting at the age of about 12, I could often be found in the University library trying to find books on sexuality. There I found an interesting psychology text that contained hundreds of people's sexual fantasies written in their own words. That book was equal parts enlightening and disturbing but I felt compelled to read it cover to cover (more than once).

I was an avid reader ever since I learned how. I raced through junior stuff and so was reading adult novels by the time I was 8 or 9. I read everything I could get my hands on, and so very many of the thrillers (my favourite genre) I read had quite steamy scenes. I was intrigued, I was hooked. I was reading sexy romance novels (oh the shame) when I was about 11 and moved on to much better erotic stories in my early teens.
