So now we know where to find CG if we ever blindfold her, spin her around and put her in the closet.... oh wait... thats someone else's fantasy
Sorry Dude
Nevermind...

Jeez, I still wake up in a cold sweat from nightmares about the last time that happened to me!!
Since nobody's said the TV remote control, I'll have to say it, especially seeing as the "remote control" used to be the youngest child.
I think the greatest is probably the worst as well,,, The hand gun !!!
(Above is nothing more than a tool, like a shovel, or a pick.) The ABACUS.
Perhaps the toothbrush.

GUNS and BOOZE in a bottle! I always have a good time with BOTH!

Damn, you stole mine!

So I guess I would say any hand-held thing created by Steve Jobs. [iPod, iPhone, iPad...sadly enough I own all of the above]

I think probably the kindle fire I just got one, actually posting from it, and it is spectacular! I love it!

I also find it funny that we are all raving over our hand held devices when the industry has moved on so we no longer need to hold devices, the blue tooth earpiece to start, siri, the rumors of a siri controlled tv, no more remote needed there, dragon diction who needs a keyboard, and there are others. I just find it fascinating. In a few years all the handheld devices we have will be phasing out. the books we read will be projected on the inside of our glasses (like movies already are) there will be no need for a phone when you can put siri in a bluetooth headset, games, all of them will be controlled by our bodies (like the kinect) no more handheld controllers. Its already starting to happen.

Are you perhaps the youngest in your family?
The Palm Pilot A Rad Invention
as a chef i would have to say a good pair of kitchen knives.
I think I'll say the Gameboy. Seems that was the genesis of all the things we have now.

I totally understand that, but she did say about 3 or 4 times that it should be "In My Opinion." I'm in outside sales and drive between 2 different states A LOT. I drive to new businesses several times a week, not to mention visiting existing clients. I find it amazing that I can just enter the address, and my GPS warns me when it's time to turn soon or when it suggests an alternate route because there is a traffic jam ahead. I can press the "Home, Jeeves" button, and it will actually get me home without me having to think about retracing my route. This has made my directionally-challenged life much easier, all except for the few times when it goes a bit rogue on me. So, In My Opinion, based on my current mood right now, the GPS, is the greatest hand-held device for me, In My Opinion.

My GPS frustrates me. It never shows the big picture, or if it does, the lettering is so small as to be illegible. Whenever I have to travel to a new destination, I reach for a map. When I get reasonably close, I stop at a convenience store, and buy a local map.

I rarely look at my GPS, I just listen for the next direction from it. It really has been a big help for me.

Well actually, not everyone uses a bluetooth. And Siri is a pain in the ass, so until that is PERFECTED, then it's good old fashioned dialing with my fingers. Besides, we're talking about greatest hand-held inventions ever made. Just because there's siri, blue-tooth, etc. doesn't mean the hand-held devices that have been around for decades are any less great, although I agree that things are taking place that may in fact some day render them unneccessary.5KxsoAX0bAjwDNsa

I agree completely, although I love siri!, just making an observation is all.

Food for thought that is not on topic.....

Your right, I apologize. However, isn't that kind of the point of the forums? to ask questions and get community based answers?

Actually I would think that when a question is asked, someone would be looking for an answer.

Not.....

"Bill I think Japan is in a world of hurt, don't you think they should have tighter regulations on how they dispose of radioactive materials?"

Come to think of it, a computer mouse is a rather useful handheld invention, it can be used for so many things...

Chill out dudes, everyone knows that the greatest handheld device has got to ba, a Joint. Sweet man, have a cookie.

Seriously, my very first thought when I saw this was "I hope I'm never parked next to him in a dark parking garage."

I really need to stop reading things on crimelibrary.com. I think I'm getting paranoid(er).
