End Day, a BBC docudrama depicting various disasters of increasing severity. The last one is the Large Hadron Collider failing(this was in 2005), creating strangelets that proceed to consume the entire planet, leaving only, as John Crighton would put it, "...a giant whirling headstone marking the spot where we all used to live and play and slaughter the innocent."
this is the end with seth rogen n jay bruchel jonah hill craig ferguson danny mcbride and of course kevin franco that movie was sooooooo funny
Hitchhiker's Guide is a longtime favorite, though I prefer the novels and TV series to the movie. The end of the world is rather incidental in it, though, even though it's what kicks things off.

My favorite end of the world movie is The Quiet Earth (1985), a rather obscure s-f flick from New Zealand. More a drama than the usual s-f action, it's about a guy waking from a suicide attempt to find that almost everyone on Earth has disappeared and that an experiment he was involved with may be responsible. A strange, somewhat enigmatic ending after some strong character drama between him and two other survivors.
Dr. Strangelove
I loathe movies about the end of the world but lets say Rhino
Sex is not the answer. Sex is the question. "Yes" is the answer. ~Swami X

This Is The End, it's hilarious! I also like I Am Legend.

A sad and strange genre, but I'd pick, "Melancholia".

Cabin in the Woods

War of the Worlds (1953)

Children of Men

28 Days/Weeks Later (if zombie movies count)

Tintinnabulation - first place (Free Spirit)
Comet Q - second place (Quick and Risqué Sex)
Amnesia - third place (Le Noir Erotique)

“On the Beach”

Icarus4 made an excellent choice. "On the Beach" (1959 version with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner, based on Nevil Shute's novel) shows that humans are more than capable of destroying the world without any outside help.

Also, "When Worlds Collide" (1951). A 1950s SciFi classic.

"It seemed like a nice neighborhood to have bad habits in.” Raymond Chandler

The Gin Rickey Singularity -- Dirty Talk competition entry

Lucia Makes a Bet

Barn Dance

Shock Wave

28 Days Later

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

The World's End

Dogma (Does that count? They are trying to save all of mankind so I say yes.)

Terminator 1 and 2 (Again, they are trying to save mankind so Dogma rules from above apply?)

I have a new story out! Wish You Were Here A teasing sub may I have pushed too far, but the punishment is oh so sweet.
