I sometimes feel that too much emphasis is put on the actual writing and less on a good story.
I find I can ignore a lot a bad grammer and spelling if the story is good enough, (and as someone who makes lots
of those errors, maybe I just don't see them!) but all to often I see comments pulling the story apart with
no reference to any good parts. Not just my stories.

Such comments will discourage readers and possibly writers too. I am not a fan of the scoring system and believe many people
will not vote as they don't want to explain why they only rate the story a 3 or less. I think a simple 0 to 5 or 1 to 5 would be better,
and just use the total, no average. I think this would make it easier for readers to judge whether or not they want to
read a story. You can top the leader board with 3 votes of 5, over a story with 10 votes of 4 and five of 5. Yet only 3 people
thought your story worthy of a vote, as opposed to 15 votes.
To me, this misleads would be readers and confuses the issue.

One author, with 2 stories that have over 30,000 reads each, wrote to tell me just how much she liked
a story I'd written, and yet it has less than 15 votes. She agrees that the scoring is not so important, and
is an inaccurate measure of success. I prefer to see how many have read a story, and take that a my measure of success.

All that said, what really matters in the end, is that someone reads your work, friends at least tell you if they like it,
and most important of all, You enjoy writing them.
Thanks for all your advice guys. Be assured that I will take a more interactive approach to the site.
