No, it’s one of those that makes you sing along, and hate yourself because you know the words…

I love this song - I don't care how naff it is. And I used to sing it to my friend's son when he was a baby and it used to send him to sleep in minutes!

"Come On Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners, it reminded of this thing i watched on VH1. Some guy said it would suck to be a highschooler in the 80's named Eileen because all the guys would go up and ask you "Hey Eileen whats that white stuff on your shirt?"

get it?

Well so far, people have come to the defense of 'The Thong Song" and "My Humps"...I'll add a third to the list:

"Come On Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners

OK, it kind of sounds like a novelty song, which as a genre, easily slip into ridiculous territory, but I think this song is really good, and I'm not usually into jangly pop songs with half-ass folk violin thrown in.

Just goes to show you, one man/woman's "Bonnie Tyler" is another's "Radiohead."

Keep 'em coming, folks!

Lexy I agree that it's a good song, one of my favorites actually. But it is still ridiculous.

Same thing goes for "The Thong Song", completely and utterly ridiculous but i still have it on my ipod along with "Come on Eileen".

Some of these I had to look up, to either hear them for the first time or to remind me what they were, but this appears to be the HALL OF FAME list. Good find, Lois!

A bunch of these bring back memories of being a kid.

1. Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps”...check
2. Los Del Rio, “Macarena”...I liked this when it came out. In a related story, I was 10.
3. Baha Men, “Who Let The Dogs Out”-wretched.

4. Celine Dion, “My Heart Will Go On”...check
5. Nickelback, “Photograph”...this doesn't seem ridiculous, it just really, really sucks!
6. Lou Bega, “Mambo No. 5″...I was tired of this the first time I heard it, even though I was 10.
7. James Blunt, “You’re Beautiful”...this song made me want to vomit.
8. Spice Girls, “Wannabe”...ridiculous but I like it anyway.
9. Sisqo, “The Thong Song”...check
10. Cher, “Believe”...check
11. Aqua, “Barbie Girl”....see #8
12. Chumbawumba, “Tub Thumper”....when I was 8 or 9 years old, I LOVED this song. Especially the angelic voice singing "pissing the night away." Must have been lots of urinating.
13. Rednex, “Cotton-Eyed Joe”....oh my god, this sucks.
14. Eiffel 65, “Blue”...I'd never heard this one before, but this entire song is gibberish
15. Crash Test Dummies, “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm”...this guy's voice cracks me up. He could do those voice-overs for movie previews!
16. Meatloaf, “I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)”.....I thought this was just a TV commercial song....
17. ‘NSYNC, “Bye, Bye, Bye”
18. Ricky Martin, “Livin’ La Vida Loca”...check
19. Semisonic, “Closing Time”...see #5.
20. Wham!, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”....wow, THIS was ridiculous.

Lexy in #14 "Blue" by Eiffel 65 its not gibberish. Ive been told many things about what he's saying some one once told me he said "I'm in need of a guy." As i kid i thought it said "Daw-boo-dee-daw-boo-die" But really he says "If i was green I would die."

Just some clarification so nothing is sent to the realm of ridiculousness with out a proper justification.

All of the songs on the list are ones which are overplayed lol..the catchy song that never leaves ones head...I personally love Wham myself but I blame that on the eighties and catchy songs played by wedding DJs...
