Well, my wife (of 40 plus years) and I both greatly enjoy oral sex. Neither of us enjoy hair, pubic or other, in our mouths. Shorty after our marriage (we'd been together 2 1/2 years before that) we both began first to trim, then shave. Soon after she started waxing. I then got electrolysis to remove the offending hair. It matters little how long the trend has been going on. The fact is, that by stating trend you're admitting it is a trend or fashion. The question I posed was that a lot of people in my opinion will favour the shaved look more from a trendy point of view rather than the stated aesthetic one. I don't find the issue all that important and am quite amused by your pseudo psycho ''deeper issues'' implication whatever the inference is.
