Captain, like you, I'm more into college than pro football. But among the pros, I'm a long-suffering Saints fan. With each passing year, Super Bowl 44 is looking more and more like a distant, diminishing mirage.

That was a great Super Bowl and I will never forget "The Greatest Show on Turf", but it is nice not to keep telling myself maybe the Rams will be good this year.

I used to be the world's biggest NFL, then AFL, now NFL Fan, rooting for my Giants and Patriots. But like so many now, I am bored with all the passing, angered with all the life altering injuries no one seems to take seriously, and all the betting.....it is neither the same game I played as a kid, nor mythical. As Howard Cosell said decades ago, "I Never Played the Game."
