I have been. BUT...we're fully vaccinated now, and the county has lifted mask mandates, so I've been wondering when I can quit, and getting kinda psyched about it. I haven't yet. I'm holding off until...I don't know...I guess when I feel my lack of a mask won't make people uncomfortable. It's been over a year. I can hold off a few more weeks.

But I still wear a mask when I visit a shop. Not yet plucked up the courage to eat out.
From what I've seen here in the northwest of England, most people also wear their masks when out shopping.
But most shop workers no longer wear masks — which I'm not so sure is a good thing.
Yesterday the woman at the till at which I was paying for my items had to turn to the side to cough. Fair enough; coughs are involuntary. And she did turn away . . . Only to cough into her palm and immediately turn back and extract my change from the till draw with that same hand, hand it over to me.
Like the well brought up person I am, while holding my breath I took the notes and coins from her viral loaded grubby little mitt (in my mind at least) and slipped them into my pocket and rushed back to the car to sanitise my wallet, notes, coins and hands. Jeez! Some people.
The guy at our local post office has never worn a mask. He's young, slightly overweight, and Asian. Yesterday I asked him if he'd had the virus. He hadn't. And remember this: Post offices remained open throughout lockdown.
Makes you wonder. And I would have said reinforces the fact that Covid is a disease of the old, except that I asked a guy in another shop who looks to be my age and also does not wear a mask the same question. He said the same as the guy I just mentioned. Those two shops are very, very busy, the staff face to face with hundreds of people every day.
But to argue against maks wearing seems ridiculous in my mind. A person's breath is not going to travel far from the mouth of a maks wearer. It's a no brainer. We're doing it or each other.

This is still essentially true. I do not wear the mask when not around other humans. Walking the dog and such. But when one approaches others consistently, like in a store, or along a crowded street, I trust my mask to help keep me safe. Having fought cancer for six years my body is immunocompromised. I am not going to waste the millions of dollars spent to keep me alive just to be stubborn about "my freedom to choose."

It's not about freedom. It's a conscious effort to make a minimal sacrifice for the benefit of society as a whole. I'm not afraid of COVID at all. But if I walk past an elderly person, I'll slip my mask on. I do the same thing with people with kids. I give a nod and give them some space. I actually have a decent background in education regarding disease transmission so I know that a lot of this is useless, but I also am able to navigate the social waters by taking the educational temperature of the situation and acting accordingly.

Current status hasn't changed much for me since my original response. In Ontario, masks are still required in most indoor spaces unless you're eating, drinking, or receiving some kind of healthcare (e.g. at the dentist). Outdoors, I go without generally since I'm not prone to hanging out with crowds. Maybe if I went to an outdoor event, but there haven't been many of those here this year again. At work, it's mandatory when I'm outside my office or interacting with other employees unless I'm eating and then distancing has to be maintained (our lunch room currently has a maximum occupation of 5).

I started wearing a mask when covid started. I stopped for awhile after I and a lot of other people got vaccinate and I thought we were coming out of the woods, but I've started wearing it again with the Delta variant spreading around. We have testing kits at home and at work. We routinely test every couple of days at home and we have them in the office too. It is voluntary for staff but they to have got into the routine of testing every two or three days - we even get the odd client doing a test as well. No positives so far!
