I don't do energy drinks, period. I do have a coffee beverage most mornings, but not for the caffeine or energy factor. It's mostly routine, and more for flavor factor than an actual need.
An apple every morning is actually just as energizing as a cup of coffee or an energy drink...and it's better for you.
I love my morning coffee, but I have it because I love it. If I have had a crap nights sleep, or need to sharpen up or stay awake, it does nothing for me. I can have a double shot at 10.30 at night and head right to bed and I go off to sleep like any other night. It is not a stimulant for me. Energy drinks are the same. I rarely drink them, but when I do, its because I actually like the taste. Even the sugar free Red Bull is ok, but again, it does nothing for me. I did experiment one morning where I had had little sleep the night before and had and early golf game. I stopped for breakfast, had coffee with that and grabbed a red bull too. All it did was give me the shakes. It was more like push me over and kick me while Im down rather than a pick me up..
I largely work nights. Waking up is never a problem. Staying awake can be. There is always a 5 hr energy drink in my car. But I try to avoid having to drink it because it can mess with my sleep cycle. Most often I just have a can if dt dr pepper at dinner.
