My Memory of the British top shelf magazines was from my very early teens. I was a paper boy (delivered the newspapers every morning, come rain or shine!) and would get into the newsagent's shop early about 6am. Whilst the shop owner was making up the customer orders for newspapers, I would flick through a few comics whilst I was waiting for my delivery to be made up. One day I noticed that he had a new bundle of 'adult' magazines on the floor waiting to be stacked on the top shelf. I suddenly lost interest in the comics and found a new interest in the lovely ladies of the adult magazines.
My favourite was a magazine called 'Readers Wives'. This magazine was just as softcore as most of the others but the difference was the women in the magazine were real and relatable. I shall never forget Carol from Colchester! What a woman.
