You can tell I didn't grow up with computers...

You must remember these then.

Got a 1950s one that has been tweaked to work on a digital line. Not long after our teenage son asked how do I redial!

LOL - my 72 AMC Hornet had one of those 8-track players.
That electric calculator was a big deal. Our office had ONE - for special projects. Every mostly used hand crank calculators.
And yes I know how - well maybe not anymore - how to use a slide ruler and slide disc.

Yes I'm old. LOL
ugh...i'm old lol

Say. Her. Name.

Actually, I can still put those two items to use. My old pickup has a cassette player in it. It's never over, 'til it's over.

he's got it!
My daughter and I were in a thrift store one day when she was young, and we spotted some vinyl LPs for sale. She picked up one and happily exclaimed, "Look Daddy, big black CDs!" I felt so old.
How about one of these?

Or this. state of the art and cost around $500...
I saw this one today..had to laugh...and yep I remember back as far as 8 tracks
(Previous two weeks of posts seem to have disappeared. I'd delete this one if I could.)
Our first computer games had to be loaded by cassette tape. Took like 30 min or so THEN you could play. And we had like 2.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! look what I found!... a toy of the 'save' icon ... ...

This was the beginning of the end...

I have one of these and love it far more than a push button phone!

It's a digital replica but still dials. It feels and looks great.

Several years of spending hour after hour every Sunday trying to get a line out of the country to talk to my dad on the once a week we were allowed to call him, on a 14 digit phone number which was made up of lots of zeros.

This means that, for instance, the phone number of the Marriott hotel in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia is etched into my family's collective memories (or at least the phone number from the early 80s anyway). We dialled in shifts, changing over when our fingers started to bleed, until in the end we gave up and used a pencil instead- and all for a 10 minute call with a 20 second delay between asking a question and getting the answer!

Saudi Arabia was followed by Zambia, Angola, Bangladesh and finally the US, before he gave up working away for months at a time and instead got a job which involved travelling all over Europe, but only for a few days at a time and we got to see our dad occasionally.
