As for me ,, I take offense to this topic , I have not learned proper punctuation ,, and probably never will.
So if being literate to this kind of standard ,, or polically correct is one of the desires of this group ,, then
a test should be given upon the membership application.
Had I known that going back to school was in order here ,, to avoid an insulting of my abililties here ,, I
might have looked for another form of entertainment. If asked ,, Do you think this topic is funny ,, I
would say NO!!
So if one of our literate ,, or politically correct members would care to send me a PM ,, telling me why
this issue has to be brought up ,, in my opinion just to piss people off again ,, I will respond to you .
If I can't get an answer that soothes me,, Then I will need to find some less intellectual people to
converse with.

As long as I can understand what you are saying, I don't care how you spell it! or if you didn't put an apostrophe, not here in the forums anyway. Stories are a bit different though. We all come here with different backgrounds, and that is what makes Lush what it is.
I think the reason why this post went down so well is because of the beginning. I only read half of the post myself. I could see the funny side as everyone these days hates text talk.

As much as I know and understand this ... I am sure I will still drop an unexpected apostrophe grenade in my writing. They seem to just slip through my fingers. I also get the possessive–its–confused at times. (Turning the contraction into a possessive or visa-versa.) The creative part of my brain (writing) competes with the analytical part of my brain (rule following). I am not a big rule follower.
I am also not big on text words in general use, but I have (do) utilize them to SMS and to tweet. I would never use them in a story unless it is integral to the plot. Grammar is the tool of clear expression and the underpinnings of transparent multi-layered thought. All of that being said, I am a 12 year IRC user, and RP gamer (Second Life), and forum lurker. In these instances, sometimes, grammar is a causality of war. It tends to get trampled on in the speed to express a oneself. I think in these situations as long as what you are saying can be understood -- all is cool and casual.
