Would you like to see images in stories?

We have had several requests recently by authors who wish to add images to their stories.

There are a few issues with doing this, however they can be overcome. The question is, would you like to see the option added?

Copyright issues are a serious concern, so we'd have to put together a library of stock images to use, rather than allowing member uploads.

We would add the option in your profile area to turn off images in stories for those who prefer to replay the stories in their mind's eye.

Who'd like to see it added?

Poll attached.
I'd say "yes" to this, but as Nicola points out, it would have to be limited to stock images and hopefully people won't get carried away with the idea at first...you have to limit the number of images per story...I can imagine what some people will start to submit...

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

I agree, maybe just one images per story, to many will take your mind of the story. Okay Alan I know it is only me who will be staring at the pictures instead of reading.

LOL...I agree about a limit...one per story is a bit strict, but if you don't put a limit people will be submitting a bunch of pictures with captions...that defeats the whole purpose of an "erotic story" site...
I'm almost thinking I should have voted "No" on this one...I have seen people put pictures in their profiles that relate to their stories...I know someone on another site that creates a whole folder of pictures named after their latest story...that works great...you can read the story without distraction and refer to the pics later. I think Lush would be better off offering the capability for members to create separate folders of pics in their profiles, like some sites do, than being able to put the pics directly in the story...I think the latter is just potentially opening up a can of worms...
Just my opinion,
Alan.

I noticed my friend, Savanna posted here, so I came to read what this is about.

I would vote no. I can't be 100% sure, but think it was wellmademale who posted in another topic and made an interesting point. He said that he doesn't write or like to read about sizes of breasts etc because it never is what you imagined. It stuck in my mind because it was so true. I don't know how many times I have seen a movie that was derived from a book, and was disappointed that the characters were nothing like I had imagined when I read the book first. I think if you have a thing for a redhead or brunette for example and see a picture of a blonde, it would distract from the story. I came across a website one time that even allowed you to change the names of the characters so the story will be more personal for the individual reader.

Sweet I agree the mind is a wonderful thing to have and to make your picture of a story, I also read and see it in my mind so clearly what I want to see. But maybe one picture of the scenery is so much better then a lady with really big ugly breast staring at you while you try to read.
I think the story without picture is better. You can image everything yourself depends on your fantasy
I definitely should have voted "No" on this one...I think there is a reason why there are erotic story sites and erotic pictures sites. I think there is a reason other sites don't allow it, and I would hate to have to see Lush learn that lesson the hard way...
I do think being able to create a folder of pics in your profile with the story name and possibly providing a link to it in the story would work...anything beyond that is a possible recipe for disaster...
Later,
Alan.

I've seen this elsewhere and I think it takes away from the story. One of the beautiful things about erotic literature is that so much is left to the reader's imagination, whereas the pictures define and limit that.

No, I wouldn't. Thanks for suggesting Murakami, though, can't get enough of him!

heh, I have asked for this beforesmile It could prove to be useful when trying to describe a setting...
Stock photos, no.

Personal photos, yes.

More than one, no.

Could it work within this online community, yeah, but it would be a major PITA.

Keep things as they are, please.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
On the one hand pic (s) dipicting the actions being describes could add to the eroticism, but then on the other hand, if pics are disorganized within the story it could be a distraction and take away from what would otherwise be an enjoyable reading experience. But if yes or no is required. I would vote YES.

Yeah, what he said.
"Whoa, lady, I only speak two languages, English and bad English." - Korben Dallas, from The Fifth Element

"If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must man be of learning from experience?" - George Bernard Shaw
Sure.... Why not. A library of stock pictures, with only one added per story, would be nice.
I say yes because the picture could set off the story big time. I think stock photos are a good idea as long as there are many to choose from. personal photos would be better. but I understand there would be copyright issues. I know there is a story of Mara's that i LOVE but she won't post it on here because she can't post a picture with it. Even if we could do the picture folder thing that Exakta66 said. That would be good! because then the people who WANT to see the photos can look and those who don't want to don't have to! To each their own!
If you can't paint a picture with your words, then you're not really an author are you?
I quit "reading" picture books when I was in grammer school. Fun With Dick And Jane are long gone.
I voted for Haruki Murakami

I read “Histoire d'O”, in English when I was a teenager (I don't speak French). Recently, on Amazon, I looked at a few pages from “The Illustrated Story Of O “. Sometimes I will reread a book just to see how much I have changed, see if I see what I remember, that was my point of seeing if it was available. Anyway, the photographs were ridiculous.

In my opinion photographs can lead one away from the text if not chosen carefully. I like stories with drawings and maps, especially maps but they should, in my view be few. The combination of image and text can work well. In the hands of an artist like William Blake the poet and painter it works very well.

It is hard to say how having images with text would work on Lush but I would expect it would be mediocre most of time.

Thinking of Blake, here is a stanza I really love, so epically poetic. What image would you associate with this verse? how about the pent up energy of an African sculpture?

Bring me my bow of burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire

– William Blake
YES YES YES and music also!!! Already made these requests to Gav awhile back hope they happen! Thanks for asking. Ironically just published a new story that has the pictures taken in it posted in my gallery!

Well put Kyle. I wouldn't want an image of this quote of Blake's. I have one in my head already.
Me personally I would say no on this I like to use my imagination more when I am reading a story. But that's just me. One of the reasons I don't watch porn so much these days yes I do still watch it but enjoy reading a lot more.

Going multimedia would be an interesting, although it is very difficult to achieve good results. I voted Haruki Murakamon this subject because I don't care one way or the other.
I'm not much of a writer and even less a visual artist, so the idea has little appeal for me. But if Nic and Co. think it might generate more new stories and readers, then why not?

One suggestion: Create an "Illustrated" category but with images limited to personal photos and original art. This could either be "in addition to" or "instead of" the current plan.

maybe a pic as a cover only.. with story title and author.. just as in a magazine rack.. its the pic that catches our eye.. a teaser if you will.. and I do like the idea of folder options to allow grouping of pic types....

I voted Murakami because he's a genius and I love his writing, and it is graphic, well written and well translated into English so I don't need images to get the message or ideas across. I work with images all the time, and do not need them to complement the stories I read -- or write.

One can have too many bad descriptions, whether they refer to breasts, cocks or body types, but one cannot have too many works written by Haruki Murakami.
