I guess the category would incorporate sex in most workplaces.

If there's enough demand, we'll add it.

I'd probably go with "Workplace Sex" or something similar.

That could encompass the doctor/nurse stories, late night grocery store shenanigans, and break room blowjobs.

I think the only one of mine I would move there is "Lucky?" It's in straight sex, and it would be nice to have a category that better targets the doctor/nurse kink.

All the rest of my workplace stories are also MILF stories, and would probably stay where they are.

Sure!

I've certainly seen plenty stories that would fall into that category, so there's obviously a demand there for it...

(I agree that Workplace might be more encompassing though)

A lot of fantasies are based in the workplace. We spend so much of our time there and become close with work colleagues, so I understand why this might be.

I think a lot of people come up with fantasies at work because sometimes you need to think of something other than the boring tasks you have day in day out.

As a writer I think there are so many forms of workplace that you can have some real fun bringing naughtiness into everyday situations. For this reason I voted yes.

I think it would have value. That type of story is pervasive and frankly, it happens a lot.

Personally I think there are enough categories- office sex could fit into numerous categories already, a quickie, oral, seduction, fetish...

Where would it end? A 'car sex' category? 'First class rail carriage' category? 'Doctor's surgery, over the birch effect desk
with those vertical blinds that never quite close properly' category??

Looks like this is the minority opinion but I agree 100%

I'm wondering, at this rate, why we have a Fetish genre. It seems like everything is starting to have it's own genre.

And also, if we're on the same path. I still think we should have a DILF and BBW categories.
Surely there are enough people on Lush who like both.

Edit:

I vote no, as I am trying to earn the omnium badge, have quite a way to go. By adding more categories it only diminishes the strive toward that badge.

Also, those who had the badge before the addition of the 6 new categories should have been able to keep the badge as they had written in ALL the categories prior to the addition of those 6 categories.... Very unfair to take that away from them after they had attained it.

I am now very discouraged to even continue working toward that badge. So my novel will be the last category I write in and will stay in the categories I wrote in prior to my quest for that badge.

Although I agree that it may be slightly unfair to move the goal posts for receiving a badge, my overruling feeling is that this is a social site and meant to be fun. Striving to achieve the goal of getting a badge is great, but ultimately in the grand scheme of things receiving a badge or not shouldn't lead to negative feelings. I'd hope that people would write for the love of telling a a good story, not just so that they may get a badge.

I can also see where the people who talk of concern of getting too many categories are coming from, but I think that any way in which we can help the reader find what topic of story they enjoy easier, then it can only be a good thing for the site.

I have to say that I think that this genuinely is a category that there is demand for - you only have to look through the stories already posted here to see that a huge proportion could easily be moved into that category. It's a consistently popular topic as it's accessible and to pretty much anyone who works with people - we can all relate to saucy shenanigans in the workplace (although I do think that workplace, rather than office would cater to the larger denominator...)

I haven't looked, but I bet the naysayers probably have stories which they could put there pretty much as they stand...

I certainly think it has a nice broad appeal... Hell, I even have one or two that I could pop straight into workplace/office sex...

At the end of the day, the category is just a broad way of grouping certain types of stories together, isn't it? Making it easier for the READERS to find what the would like to see. You all know as well as I do that the variation within any category tends to be huge - we all write differently - just look at any of the competitions and how many different ways an idea can be written and interpreted?

I think that it's probably more important to carefully choose the tags when writing your story, so that people can really nail down what they want to find - I know that a few of mine could easily fit into more than one category.

Office sex/workplace sex is a great idea. It's actually a regular category on porn sites, so why not on a sexy story site? And this is the best site for that.

I voted no before I read all the replies as I was just thinking there are too many categories already and I thought that office sex was too narrow. I like it better as Work Place and would have voted for that.

As to the badge thing. Yes I can see the points of people writing for the fun of it. And I think truthfully people can write for the fun of it and work to achieve a badge at the same time.

Why can't the badge requirements be changed or an additional badge be added to include a large percentage of the categories and not all since the categories seem to be changing a lot.

And to the person who brought up the DILF category again --- again I vote yes for that category. Or a play on the MILF and DILF category of an all inclusive Older/Younger category.

I'm too late to vote, but:

I don't think an "Office Sex" category makes sense. I'm finding it hard enough to put my stories into the correct category as it is. Just imagine a lesbian interracial first-time story that involves a bit of spanking and toys. That's five possible categories.

In my opinion, categories should be to narrow down the selection to important sexual preferences of the readers and to differentiate on types of writing. lesbian, bisexual, group sex, bdsm etc. are all valid categories that "protect" the unwilling reader from having to see things that may be out of their comfort zone. The differentiation between prose, poems, flash fiction and novels is also absolutely helpful.

"Office sex" should be a tag. The problem, as I see it, is that tags are currently completely free-form (perhaps something like a multi-selectable list of standard tags could help there?) and there isn't a convenient way to browse them. As I see it, and with a rising number of stories on the site, there will come a point where a lot of stories will fall victim to the category system, (almost) never being found by readers who'd otherwise appreciate them. If you invent a lot of categories that overlap with existing ones, it will either be a one-way road or there's going to be lots and lots of re-shuffling ahead. Topics and settings are three-dimensional. I may put a story into the lesbian category, but even though my readers may like lesbian, for them the most important search criterion may be "first time". Perhaps now would be a good time to start to start implementing something new and lay the groundworks for multi-category (or multi-main-tags or however a technical implementation may look at it) story assignment.

That's just my thoughts looking at it from the perspective of a reader as well as writer, and from quite some experience with data visualization at work. It's the same thing there.
Sales person: "Here we have the Excel sheet with sales to first time customers, here are recurring ones, and here's the sheet with large batch orders. See the diagrams next to each other? The sums don't match up with total sales."
Secretary: "Ehm, sure they don't, some of them are listed twice, you have to decide in which one to put them. Either they are first-time, or they are large. You decide."
Sales person:"Oh. But they *are* both!"
Secretary: "Tough luck!"
Sales person: "Ok, ok, I get it. Just remove them from first-time."
Later: another sales person, panicking: "I've made a big sale to a new customer, and the amount isn't on the new sales sheet! I need it there for the commission."
Secretary, sighing: "It's one the *large orders* sheet."
Sales person, whining: "But I don't want it there, I always look at the first-time sales total to calculate my fee."
Secretary thumps her head on the desk.

Interesting discussion, and good points, all.

For mine, I think the categories might be starting to get a little unruly. I know I'm a simple-minded colonial, but I find it difficult to distinguish between MILF and Mature, Quickie and Flash, Seduction and Love Stories, and Wife Lovers, Cuckold and Cheating etc. I've got a story in the pipe about a peacekeeper who has sex with a nurse in a refugee camp, so does that go in Straight Sex or Workplace?

I'm in favour of a tight group of categories up front, maybe a dozen or so, then a series of filterable, pre-defined tags (rather than free text ones).

But I'll take whatever Nicola gives me, and I'll like it.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.

The goal posts on the Omni Badge have changed before. I think the benefits of an Office/Workplace Category far outweigh any negativity on making that badge a little tougher to obtain. That's just one more story to write. This category offers a new wider appeal that will satisfy and attract readers and writers. And that is I think, a much bigger and more important goal. Who knows the new readership numbers that will be added by expanding and adding this new category? It could be awesome.

From personal experience, the recent addition of the College Sex Category added more than 200,000 views to just my own stories (spread out over 30 stories) in three months. What will an Office/Workplace Sex category do for Lush? I think it will greatly benefit this site.
