Sorry if the suggestions aren't welcome but what about a red or grey check icon. I think what's getting to me is the blue.
You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

find out what people would like to see as an icon, I'm sure there is a diamond on hand to create a graphic icon that pleases all and is more within the Lush style of branding.![]()
an idea that pops to mind is the little red book app icon i made but it could say " READ THIS!" ot "Read Me"
here is what it looks like
but it could have

I think the two awards should complement each other

Or even the check mark on the book cover? Just brainstorming here.

These are great! The blue needs to be softer and/or the box smaller if it stays that colour. As it is, it totally overpowers the EP emblem, which is not the point at all. I took a screen shot when the Rs first came out (I am that sad, I was very excited). It looked great because it was understated and not a solid block of strong colour.
I hate that tick. It just says "Blah, it'll do". I love the idea of something designed to compliment/contrast with the EP sign, like the R. It's simple and in keeping with the current rosette. The button size currently used is just too big to let the EP sign stand out. Maybe something like Crazy's idea, if people want something bold, but with Stephanie's colours?
As proud as I am of the award, it makes me want to hide it, like Kiki suggested. Sorry, that's how I feel, whether you're bovverred or not. I can't believe I felt so strongly about it! That's me done.

Maybe it is done because of the resemblance of the editor's pick but I really think the black medal suits the style of the site better and is more appealing!

here another idea and at current check mark size (40x40 px)

I agree with Shylass, the current one kind of makes me want to hide it, however, it is MUCH nicer in the red like CD has done.
I really think the blue is very jarring...m
Would the wee book icon work with a yellow ep rosette on or over it? Or how about a laurel over it or something?

Maybe!!! WTF is a laurel? hahaha help me out here![]()

I'd go for something simple, like a blue star:
To me, the check mark evokes a ballot, which would imply that a vote has been taken — but recommendations are made by individual moderators without being put to a vote.
A star feels more like when we were kids and the teacher would sometimes bestow a star on the paper of someone who'd done an assignment particularly well. It just seems a more fitting symbol to me.

I think that people have lost what should be the focus here. That should be on being pleased that writers will now be getting recognition in a new way rather than complaining about the colour and shape of the symbol.
This is not a cooperative where every member has a say in every decision made. It is Nicola's site and the decision is ultimately hers. It seems to me that it is really ungracious to carp about this. All of the suggestions are acceptable.
