I've had half a dozen reported messages about Naked Julia spam the last few days.

Spamming porn / adult sites on here, is not on. Our site sponsors pay our server bills.
Bump for the idiots still doing this, the 24 hour grace period is now over.
Hello--Lush newbie here--what is 'Naked Julia' spam???
Lady Jay, it's something that has most definitely pissed off 'she who must be obeyed' big time. All else is trivia. ;)

Welcome to Lush.

there's been spam being sent about my multiple members for one of those - see naked pictures of my ex girlfriend. it's a big no no here.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Well all that is clear as mud.

don't be sending out PMs that look like this to your entire list of friends:

From: a very bad lush member
Sent: 21 Jul 2013 05:17
To: everyone i know on lush
Subject: Trying to get as many people as possible to view

... for science!

It's a site that promises nude photo's of an ex-girlfriend if you spam out a link to all your friends for them to click on.
The more visits, the more pics.
It's a load of rubbish but people keep spamming the links around Lush in PM's for some reason.
I would suggest members stop sending this message out. I have been fair and only suspended people. I am getting a bit annoyed now and think I will just start deleting. Don't say you were not warned.

Forgot to mention dear that we both ended up having to change our passwords for all of our stuff and your phone got hacked. Some people

so yeah, lesson of the day here? don't spread this around, please.

Wow. I haven't encountered it, but that pisses me off. A lot. I'm pleased to see that Lush is similarly outraged. Good on you, administrators and directors for standing up to it.
I've subsequently been told, they are spreaders of malware.

I highly recommend avoiding them like the plague.
I suspected as much when I saw the message in my Inbox at the beginning of the week.

The Golden Rule is always never open an attachment unless you are 100% certain that you know the sender, and of course, never fall for the "Naked Pictures" one. I thought this gag ran out ten years ago!
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
I haven't gotten anything like this as far as I'm aware, but I truly dislike when "friends" send me links to view. I get them all the time. I don't like having people sending me that kind of stuff. It annoys me, and I don't know what the heck it is. I just delete them, I don't care what friend sends it. I have deleted two for doing it endlessly.

Edit: Also, I don't know if this is me, or Lush but in the last two days whenever I'm on Lush I can just be scrolling or go to click something and a popup will come up. I've asked someone about it, and I don't have a virus. My popup blocker is on, so don't know what happens. It has only occurred when on Lush.
Poppet, nothing we have on site, other than for site purposes like confirming you want to do anything, will ever cause a pop up.

Clicking on 3rd party ads, will take you offsite, and into areas which are obviously outside of our control. We ask advertisers not to add any popups to links to their sites.

If you're not clicking those ads, you most likely have malware on your system. Try using malwarebytes and see what it shows up. I'd delete your cache and cookies, baddies normally hide in there.

I've just been made aware, that naked-Julia site has closed down, probably too many spam complaints...
Well having gold I don't see the adds and such, but it's happened two or three times in the last few days. Someone suggested I run a scan, and I did, it came up clean. I don't know, if it happens again I'll write down the name of the link. I usually click out of them as fast as I can. I've never had a problem before, but that's why I mentioned it. Just so it's known. It might just be me though.

That seems like something that would happen. Have you also been getting the malware warnings? I know google chrome has been spitting them out left, right and centre on here.

There isn't any malware on Lush so I'm not sure what you have been seeing.
My advice to anyone with these issues would be to run a full system scan with something like Malwarebytes, install either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox if you aren't already using one of these as your web browser and install the Adblock Plus extension:

No, I haven't gotten any Malware warnings, I'm just getting stupid popups. It happens like once a day, for the last week or so. I've run my virus scan many times, nothing comes up. A friend of mine is having the same issue as well. Neither of us knows what it is.
I got a malware popup before but other then that all is good smile. Haven't got a clue what the (naked Julia) spam is tho

It's probably down to people hot-linking crappy animated gifs from spam sites on to people's profiles.

What browser are you using?

Google Chrome, it's the only one I like. I've never had an issue before, just this past week or so.

I use Chrome too but no problems for me - have you allowed chatboxes from your friends on Lush to open automatically? (it'll be on your lush settings)

Go to settings (one of the options on the drop down from the little three bars on the top right corner of Chrome). Then under "Privacy" click "content settings". Scroll down until you get to Pop-ups and select "Do not allow any Pop-ups"

No, I have to click the okay button. I don't like them popping open on their own. Nor have I used a chatbox in forever.

The naked Julia site has a fukushima scale malware warning on my dashboard.

That does not mean that they are using malware to spread it, but people who visit it may get clobbered hard. Or it might just mean that they are getting so many complaints in so many places that it is being treated as malware.

This. Gav has coded some protective measures in place, hooking up with google's safe lists I think, but new sites full of malware, pop up like weeds.
