You might notice at the bottom of a story there is a link to a new feature, coming soon, called Lush Coins.

The development team have been working on this for months now, and it will basically be a way for readers to show their appreciation to authors they enjoy reading.

New members signing up will receive coins as part of their membership fee, and existing users can buy coins to distribute if they want to.

If you don't want to participate in the scheme, that's absolutely fine. There is no requirement to use any of the coins you may be gifted.

We have some super talented authors here, so this is an excellent way of helping them get a little back for the stories they create and share here.

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe. I shall see how it works in practice, I guess.

A woman goes shopping in the local mall. But what the heck is she shopping for in that outfit? My Festive Flash comp entry.

I have qualms about this and I don’t exactly know why. But maybe I will need to wait and see how this works. Trying to keep an open mind. Change is always difficult for me. It took me many months to get used to the new Lush format. Lol!

My biggest concern reading about this new upcoming feature - "If you do x/y/z on the video chat, I'll give you xx coins." IE paying for sexual favors via a currency that can be changed to vouchers.

You can't use coins in chat at all as we specifically wanted to avoid this. The spirit of it is to reward authors not performers. We will keep a close eye on it to make sure it's not being abused in any way.

It was a big jump to lush 2.0 but hopefully now you are seeing the benefits?. Lush 1.0 was 17 years old and well past her use by date code wise.

Code wise, maybe. Functionality wise it was spot on. Can you itemize the benefits, please.

for you, maybe. for those of us keeping it tacked together with duct tape and bubble gum it was a nightmare. seriously.

Lush Bucks. smile I can dig it. A nice creative solution trying to help out the writers here. Thanks, Lush!

Tintinnabulation - first place (Free Spirit)
Comet Q - second place (Quick and Risqué Sex)
Amnesia - third place (Le Noir Erotique)

Yeah I get that. Big benefits for the supportability. But you guys really have to stop trying to sell Lush 2 as a better site for your users. It's really insulting.

Can you itemize the benefits, please.

1) you're supporting your fav writers who work very hard and spend lots of time writing stories for your enjoyment and do it for free with little to no praise or acknowledgment.

2) you get to feel good about yourself for supporting your fav writers who work very hard and spend lots of time writing stories for your enjoyment and do it for free with little to no praise or acknowledgment.

3) bragging rights.

4) see #1

what's really insulting is when people suggest our comps are rigged and then ignore requests to back up that accusation with proof.

Quite. Regular blocks of 8+ hours of downtime were a real usability boon on Lush 1.

Can we try and stay on topic please.

Please browse my digital bookshelf. In this collection, you can find 115 full stories, 10 micro-stories, and 2 poems with the following features:

* 29 Editor's Picks, 75 Recommended Reads.
* 15 competition podium places, 11 other times in the top ten.
* 21 collaborations.
* A whole heap of often filthy, tense, hot sex.

Yes, I’ve been here since 2008 and knew that it needed upgrading. It just took time to get used to things being so different. What helped was that some of things I liked about Lush came back after a bit. I’m hesitant but not resistant to change. I just don’t want to see readers become reluctant to read my stories because they feel obligated to “tip” or see the coins in lieu of clicking like and or favorite which seem to be how story value is judged. As I said, I will see how it plays out.

One of the best things about Lush 2 is improved functionality! Anyone who says they weren’t frustrated with all the down time of Lush 1 is just lying. Lol!

But it was such pretty duct tape! 😉

I imagine the average reader does not understand how frustrating it was from your end to keep things running. Your jaw can only handle chewing so much gum to use as adhesive. Thanks for all y’all do as mods. 😘

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will the coins given be visible only to the receiver? Or will they appear along side the Likes and Favorites as another measure of success and encouragement?

She's not saying the coins would be exchanged in chat. The action being paid for would be done in chat, then the payor would reward them by putting coins on their stories.

I can see other scenarios where this could be abused, too. Not to mention the kind of gameplaying that can happen as people jockey to get coins.

As I said, I'll see how this plays out, but the concerns expressed by utterchaos and some others are not without merit.

anything can be abused. if someone really wants to abuse it, they'll probably figure out a way - our job is to make sure than any one that abuses it gets their hands slapped or what have you. i mean, in the past we had abuses with voting - not that much different, really and, personally, i would rather see a little abuse if it means rewarding some of better and more popular writers. or, really, anyone who writes. smile

Seeing your comments on my stories is reward enough, Rachel. 😇😇😇

Do check out my latest story:

Festive Flash competition: The Ghost of Christmas Past

And my other stories, including 5 EPs, 22 RR's, and 15 competition top 10's including my pride competition winner: On Oxford Street, This Gay Girl Found Pride While Playing With Balls

"New members signing up will receive coins as part of their membership fee..."

Assuming the "coins" have actual value, which given that existing members have to buy them, it would seem they do, what if a new member does not want to participate? Do they get that portion back down the road or the ability to opt out with a discount from the start?

I so know what you mean: Rachel and Curvy's comments on Oxford Street were when I realized that just maybe I could write.

My preference is your tips are private. Money will bring out resentments even more than votes, reads, and comments.

As for people's motives for tipping... I think it's beyond control, so I'm not going to worry about it and keep doing my thing. smile

Granted, cyber-for-coin is not ideal.

However, as long as there is the ability to gift something, somewhere on the site, this will happen. Regardless of what rules we have or what new rules we bring in to combat it.

People already roleplay in chat/PM for the gift of membership upgrades.
As long as the person paying for membership/coin is complicit and fully aware of what is happening, then is there a much greater issue??

This could have the added bonus of keeping members on-site, rather than sharing content via an off-site source, like OnlyFans for example (which we have seen being mentioned first hand, on profiles and in chat).

Gifting Lushcoin could potentially reduce the cost of what is gifted if a member cannot afford much, whilst still wanting to make a contribution.

Lushcoin rewards those writers which have truly, top-tier ability and (hopefully) prevents them taking material elsewhere which is financially funded in a professional authorship capacity.

I seem to write a story every 1.5 years on average.

How many do that, Georgia, many top-tier writers are still hereabouts? Lol, maybe I'm not on the list, but I've never thought of publishing elsewhere. I came here having published elsewhere and haven't submitted on another site ever since. Most of the writers I know are in the same boat. I just logged up to OnlyFans, it isn't really a story site.

Honestly I write for fun and enter competitions to test myself. The rewards are the validation of my peers, never the money. I concede that there are less comments on stories over the past year, but there is enough feedback for me to keep writing. After all where else would I go. 😊

Not you, but I can guarentee that some have moved on from Lush in the past to publish professionally due to the previous lack in reward.
That is the quality this site has consistently had at the top of the table.

No, that is why I included the mention of OF in the section highlighting the pay-to-play aspect in chat.

Maybe not, but I bet you wouldn't turn the coin and chance of payment down if it was gifted, now that it is a thing.

Nowhere! Lush is the best free-subscription Erotica website on the planet, which can now pay you in e-coin!
