Competition Winners leaving the site

I noticed that when a member cancels their membership, all stories disappear. With the departure of Fuzzyblue, there is no longer a winning story for the Winter Wonderland competition, no 2nd place story for Winter Adventure, no 3rd place story for Rainbows and there are other older gaps as well when other authors have left.

I don't know if this possible, but could there be something when you submit your story, you agree that Lush reserves the right to keep the top 3 stories in the competition in the event that a member leaves and these stories can remain for others to read.

Just a thought

2 competition winning stories, 1 Famous story, a smattering of Editor's Picks, a handful of Recommended Reads and one Clitorides award are scattered amongst my stories.

One of a handful of writers to get the Omnium badge for writing in every category

I had noticed this too.

I was wondering how it sits with rule 12 - "Winners must grant lushstories.com the right to display their story for 12 months after the competition has closed, so new readers have time to enjoy their story. Authors will retain all their usual copyrights to their stories."

Even if the user has left there should be a way to archive the story, even if it is just for the 12 months, unrelated to the account. Failing that some form of placemarker could be put in to explain the empty line, it confused me when I first started that some competitions were missing places.

Why not leave a comment too?

It's annoying, I agree.

The "Fetish Sex" competition (November 2016) has no first or second place stories anymore.

22 February 2024 - How about a quick plug for one of my filthiest recent stories? It's all in the title - Naked Pool Party Swingers | Lush Stories Please read, comment and maybe give it a ❤️ - or even a⭐ if you really enjoy it! Thank you! Annie xxx

It is annoying when members who have placed in competitions leave.

I asked Gav if he could make it so that their stories remain, however he said that a story requires a corresponding database member entry or there's nothing to hook it to. Something along those lines.

I'll ask him to take a look at it again once he's made the site transition in the next fortnight or so.

It looks untidy apart from anything else.

We discussed another option of moving everyone else's stories up a place should it happen, but it became too complicated.

can we replace them with my stories? just a thought!

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I pulled a comp winner because I wanted to sell it on Amazon.

I'd offer to put it back, but I imagine the only thing more annoying than someone pulling a comp winner is having to repost a comp winner after it's been pulled.

Yep, just my 3rd place story looking lonely

It is a shame when winning stories are removed but it’s the authors prerogative to do so.
I'd consider moving the stories in that comp all up one place or two, as the case may be.

Gosh, sprite, you're just so – generous, yeah, that's the word…

I know it's extra work for admins BUT...

Someone could make a "person" called contest winners. and link them as a co-author. A policy revision would also be required for permission

I love it when you think outside the box.

Add a clause to the comp rules that say "your story can be reposted at any time but lush stories" or some shit like that and problem solved.

Save the story, the heat gets too close for the original writer. Goes back up as written by Marquis' said.

Problem solved in future comps where this will happen eventually.

Maybe bump 4th place up or something? Or maybe still have the ability to put their names there even.though their gone somehow?

I see lots of empty spots

No. they didn't earn that.

And your "their" typo makes the inner asshole in me want to be against yoour idea more.

i appolagizer in adance for poointing out the typo. I make ttypos like in every post too. But not in ones talkign about serupus writing.

See wgat I have to deal with?

Writing isn't easy. Even porn writing.

Awards, even lush awards should be earned the traditional way IMO.

There is no college football champion for 2004. USC had to vacate the title because they cheated, and had to forfeit every win. Auburn also went undefeated, while playing a tougher rated schedule than USC, but can't claim the title as they finished ranked #2. They didn't cheat. Kind of ironic and unjust, but that's the way it is. Of course, that helped establish the new system to avoid that happening again.

Of course, Lush comps are different and judged. But it would be great to make something better so we don't have blanks. Really, the blanks seem embarrassing.

I say we bring up lots of ideas, even a bad idea could spur a good idea in someone's brain.

The existing rules cover it... at least for a year.
12 - "Winners must grant lushstories.com the right to display their story for 12 months after the competition has closed, so new readers have time to enjoy their story. Authors will retain all their usual copyrights to their stories."

All it would take is a tweak to that.
Plus of course the background work to store and repost the story if needed.

Vanessa, No hard feelings. Just fooling with ya. I get your point of view. Just putting mine out there as a lush writer with an ego, gatekeeping ;)
