Could a list of competions be issued at the start of the year to give writers more time to craft their story? Perhaps Christmas is the only time that competitions are run. Perhaps one for Valentines if it's not already part of the system. Cash prizes are not essential, the boost to the ego if you do well would be sufficent reward. I penned, 'Carol for Christmas' for the comp but must have forgot to tick the box, Oh well! Live and learn. Stanart.
I noticed some of the categories are being neglected, only a handful of stories.
Maybe we could have category specific competitions to help fill out categories?
Example, I looked at MILF today, like 10 or less stories!

En vis mann slår aldri en hund i klubben med en stokk, fordi hunden vil vende rundt og biter mannens ballene av. Just because you find that subject not to your liking, why should it be banned . is one if not the biggest catergory and a ton of people enjoy reading it. I don't agree with the subject matter but I don't pass judgement on people who read them. If you don't like something don't read it.
How is any of this relevant to the question being asked by stanart.
A few more comps during the year would be great. I agree cash prizes wouldn't need to be awarded as recognition for your writing should be enough.
How about a readers choice ( ANY catagory ) . Content matter should not be a factor .
I was just commenting oneline not putting words in your mouth. is such a genre and I know a lot of people don't like it. I was using it as an example that's all, should have made myself clearer.

Some categories tend to overlap a bit which accounts in part for why there are not many stories in them...for instance, MILF stories can usually go under "Mature"...
Alan.
I bet there is more than just the one!

The OP is discussing Competition expansion, not category definitions. Please keep threads on track.
True, and sorry for the brief detour lol.

I agree two months is plenty of time...I usually do a story in one night...

Trinity...you are way too kind...but, thank you...
I do think more competitions would be good, I have been a bit out of the writing mood...been spending way too much time posting stories on other sites the last couple of months, but I am very competitive and competitions would be incentive for me...in fact, the last couple of stories I wrote were strictly because of my competitive nature..."Merry Christmas, Baby" for the holiday competition, and " Is Best" because I was discussing how popular is on this site with another member, so it was a blatent attempt to gain ratings...lol...because of the popularity of the subject. I think it came out well though, and most people saw the humor in it...
But, I really do believe going more than two months out with the competitions is not good...I would end up writing stuff and forgetting about it...
Thanks again Trin...
Later,
Alan.
I hadn'r realised that 2 months notice had been given. I had been away from the site for a little while, and 2 months is enough, Although writing a story in one night? Do they do a draft and think about it for awhile, making inprovments, honing it to sharpness. but that is by the way, my original request was for an expansion and more notice. Surely this would improve the quality of plot and characters. Best regards to all. Stanart.
Thanks for that Alan, I understand and have taken it on board. It think four comps a year would be ideal. Christmas is a must. Somebody already had mentioned halloween, perhaps valentines for those romantically inclined and one half way through the year on a theme selected by the judges. Stanart.
Some good ideas here. Yes, it's highly probably there will be a Valentine's type competition.
We'll think more on the timing and structure of the competitions.
There's an initial rush of interest after announcing a competition, followed by a big drop off. The length of the entry period has to be just right.
Hmm, that sounded sexual.
