Announcing our Festive Flash competition

** closing date 24th December 2024 **

The theme for this competition is Festive Flash. So named because we like alliteration and there's a strong possibility we were drunk when we dreamed it up. So, it's festive, and it's a flash. We also like a good double meaning and therefore the story rules are as follows:

1. Your story must be between 600 and 1,000 words.

2. Your story must be set around Christmas.

3. Your story must have someone flashing, or being flashed, either accidently or on purpose.

You can submit your story in any category (other than micro, novels or poetry) if it fits better in a category than in the flash category. Other than that, let your imagination run wild. Be silly. Be serious. But above all, be sexy. You have max 1,000 words, so if people aren't naked and writhing in mindless ecstasy by paragraph two, shame on you.

Did reading all those 10,000-word stories drive you all to drink? I feel very guilty that I did not read so many of them. Reading English is my weakest skill, so my husband offered to read one of them to me. We needed a day to recover, and not from a sore head. 🤐

I fear that my idea will not fit into a thousand words. It is very filthy, though, and a crime to waste such a deviant thought.

I was writing a new story. I am easily distracted... 😉

Real. I am recovering from writing TWO 10k stories since my first attempt for the last theme got rejected and I had to try again (but still submitted the other as a non-comp story). So maybe a Flash Festive contest is something we all need to help us recover? A "Rebound" Competition, as it were, to prevent the Writer's Block from getting its claws too deep in us.

When is the last day we can submit our story? Can i submit it late if i send pix of me naked with it?

Struggling with ideas myself, lol. I have to pick one and do the draft this weekend because I take ages to edit and need to leave room for that.

My fear is writing a story that feels too rushed because of the word limit.

I will not brag because I struggle so much to write. I have 999 words I am okay with, this is more than good, usually I hate what I write, so this is a first. Perhaps. I should write when I am not getting any sex (my husband is on business). He is back now, and already I have learned a new word.
