Having reviewed all our members' suggestions for new categories, and brainstormed some of our own, we've come up with 11 new categories, which have been added to the site (sorry Omnium badge holders!).

Some are arguably sub-categories of existing ones, but we felt they are different and popular enough, to warrant their own specific category.

Authors - if you have existing stories, which would be a better fit in any of these categories, please feel free to move them over (don't submit them as new stories please as they've already been verified, and it will clog up the system):

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention, that due to the change in the text editor used in the submission area, in the last year or so, that older stories may encounter formatting issues if transferred to a new category. New stories will of course go through with no issues.

If this happens to you, please copy the story into Notepad / Text Edit (any flat file / plain text format), remove all the extra spacing / gaps, and then submit it. I've just fixed one up for someone, it took 2 minutes. The more you do your side, the quicker the stories will be published.

*********************************************************************************************************

Femdom - Femdom or female domination sex stories, are those where a woman takes the lead. Dominant wives, girlfriends or women in positions of power, are usually the main character, with a submissive male or female, attending to their every demand. For male and female subs, femdom fiction is likely to contain story elements of both softer activities like foot worship and teasing, to more hardcore activities like light torture, pain play (nipple and genital clamps, CBT), strap-on sex (pegging), figging, smothering / suffocation, orgasm denial, fisting, anal play, spanking, toilet play and humiliation.

Horror - The seduction of horror in the literary world is as captivating now as it has ever been. Entice your audience to experience the forbidden, carnal exhilaration that a cocktail of sex and adrenaline-pumping terror can evoke. Titillate their minds and senses with consensual masochism as they willingly submit to the pleasures of fear. From the Gothic desires of sensuous vampires to the spine-tingling suspense of psychological torment, sate your readers unquenchable thirst for blood and bosoms.

Money - Prostitution is one of the oldest professions, and sex for money is the theme of this category. Stories are likely to feature characters and scenarios containing the likes of escorts, gigolos, hookers, strippers, happy ending massages, cashed up sugar daddies, cam models, gay for pay, millionaires, and indecent proposals.

Monster Sex - This is a relatively new but very popular niche in the world of adult literature. This category deals with erotic fiction featuring sexual encounters between humans and 'monsters'. From the traditionally Japanese sub-genre fetish of tentacle sex, to more contemporary styles involving dinosaurs, mermen, Bigfoot, werewolves, and so on, let your imagination fly and share your weirdest most quirky monster stories.

Occupations - Occupation based sex stories, are those where the job of the main character or characters, is the attraction. Stories of naughty nurses, hot firefighters, fit personal trainers, lustful lawyers, dirty doctors, probing pilots, handy massage therapists, mile high club loving flight attendants and estate agents who leave you in a real state, belong in here.

Outdoor - Share your tales of living dangerously outside of the bedroom. Thrill us with the arousing risk of getting caught in a compromising situation, and the unadulterated excitement of adventurous outdoor sex. Whether your characters are huddled up under blankets in a tent, into dogging, or bent over backwards on the bonnet of a car, let your readers immerse themselves so they can almost feel the grass between their toes, the sun on their backs, the wind in their bush ...

Steampunk - Steampunk is a sub-genre which incorporates technologies and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk stories are often set in an alternative past where these retro-futuristic technologies exist within a society of Victorian values. The fashion usually incorporates traditional dress such as bustles, corsets, gowns, suits with waistcoats, and top hats. These are often accented with 'period' accessories such as timepieces, parasols, and flying / driving goggles.

Teen - Teen sex stories are those which feature teenagers, 16 years old and over, having sex and performing other sexual acts. They may be stories of first time fumblings, senior school prom quickies, teens losing their virginity and other tales of innocence lost during teenage years.

True - True sex stories, are those which feature real stories, either experienced by the author, or those they've been party to or told about. They could be tales of one-night stands, dating site hook-ups, blind dates, house parties, first time swinging experiences, free for all hippie sex romps. Stories submitted to this category, should be inspired by actual real events, and are deemed to be true.

Uniform - Uniform stories are for those who get turned on by women or men dressed up in their uniform. Typically, these stories might involve people in law enforcement, firefighting, military, the medical profession, sports, but could also feature the likes of sexy maids, hot waitresses, cute cheerleaders and feisty flight attendants. Share your fantasies, or true stories about uniformed lovers.

Watersports - Also referred to as pee play or golden showers, these stories feature erotic play involving urination. Activities might involve peeing in front of someone, or on them or even drinking a lover's piss. There’s nothing like the ache of a full bladder or the growing wet spot on tight pants to enhance your sexual desire. A fetish in which a heady mixture of humiliation and intimacy are often woven tightly together.

All suggested categories have been given due consideration. Please do not suggest the same ones again.

Hopefully these will get the creative juices flowing!

Cheers,

Nicola
While it's always nice to have new categories to explore and tease our writing skills with, there are a couple of these new ones which bring up questions for me. Always one to ride the fence on what is and isn't allowed, I would like a little clarification, please. I don't like to break the rules, just bend them up a little!

Monster Sex According to the description, this to me borders very close to which is supposed to be against TOS. I once asked about a minotaur type story and was told that as long as the lower part (genitalia) was human it was okay, but I was interested in a reverse minotaur type creature. Wouldn't tentacle sex, werewolves, and such "nonhumans" be ? And if not why not?

Uniform Sex and Occupation Sex To me this is redundancy. We already have an Office Sex category and adding two more very similar categories would be confusing and over complicating things. So my "firefighter getting hurt and going to the hospital to meet the girl he helped as a child who is now a nurse" story would fit in at least these three categories!

Teen Sex In this one, "teen" is a very narrow category considering that characters have to be at least 16 to even be in the story and "teen" ends only 4 years later at 20 years old. Maybe changing that to "Young Adult" and going from 16 to 30 would be better. Then the girl could move right into the MILF category and finally to the Mature category!

Again I don't want to insult anyone or start a big "discussion", I would just like a little explanation here.

Animals are real, monsters are not. If your 'monster' looks, sounds and acts like a horse, it's not going to get through. Leeway is given for supernatural creatures.

Adding categories isn't meant to be restrictive. You will find that stories may fit naturally in a few categories. It will hopefully help someone hone in on the kind of stories they want to read though.

Teens - this is a pretty popular category across the erotic world. Again, it's not meant to be restrictive, just to identify that at least one of the characters is 16-19.

There will definitely be some category crossover, but we have that at the moment anyway, so it's all cool.

Does this mean, that people who until now achieved their omnium badge are going to lose it? Not that it concerns me personally (I'm not expecting to ever achieve one) but that seems a bit cruel and unfair. Wouldn't it be nicer to let them keep it and rename it to for instance "Omnium legacy" and to introduce a new omnium badge for those who wrote in all the now existing categories?
A little kindness can be so valuable, yet costs almost nothing

In many countries being gay is a crime, and even in modern societies, politicians try to legalise discrimination. Your voice can make a difference. Have a look at All Out to find out how.

Hey... pssst.... that's an l (as in luscious) at the end of my name, not an i
I see fantasies are in the lineup but not on Nicola’s list. Is that a glitch or a real category again?

I see now it must have been a mistake and was quickly taken down.

I can see what you've said here Jen. And in looking through my "library" I see I can, if I choose to, move some things around and cover nine of the eleven categories (only leaving Horror and Steampunk unfilled) I will never have the Omnium Badge and I'm not even trying for it. But perhaps moving some stories to the new categories may give me more views. I will think about it. If I do decide to move them there's going to be some busy Mods! LOL!

We're thinking about something along these lines, yes. Trying to work it out at the moment. It's on the to-do list.

Moving them between categories, should not require them to be re-verified, since they've already been verified and published.
Will that break links for Favorited Stories? If someone has Favorited your story will they need to redo it?

It should redirect to the new URL. If not, it's probably an easy fix.

Please give it a go and let us know. You can message Gav directly if it's not working as it should. He doesn't read these forums.

I will post separately about this, later today.

I think this is true for all stories that were verified after the new submission box came online about a year ago. For older stories, the formatting may get messed up, requiring the author to fix it on resubmission, and sending it back to the queue.
I’ve moved my last competition story from Fantasy & Sci-Fi to Steampunk. It worked fine, with no further verification required.

Right, as this is a new story, I.e., posted after December 2016. I just moved an older story over, and the formatting got messed up. I knew that fixing it (and possibly even just leaving it alone) would require re-verification, so I tweaked a tag also. That by itself would have required re-verification.

But I think the only way a story can get moved without mod intervention is if it's newer. I think even fixing the extra line breaks you get when you edit old stories "changes" them enough to require re-verification.
I have noticed that when I move them over, some go right into the category and others go to the mods.

This sounds like it's gonna' be a tricky one to moderate for y'all. I mean, if someone was talking about, say, a centaur, all those bits are pure horse, so...
If they're moved over with just a few formatting changes, they're generally very quick to re-verify, so don't worry too much about it.

If you're planning on moving 50 at the one time, maybe a wee heads up would be good, lol.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The intent in someone's story usually comes across. If there are any we're not sure of, they will be discussed in the mod forum and a consensus reached.

If you're not sure before you write something, drop a line to the help desk and we can have the discussion before anyone goes to the bother of writing something we wouldn't allow.

As I said, the rules around mythical beings are more relaxed anyway, so hopefully we'll be able to get most things published. It will be a learning process no doubt, as people come up with new wonderful and wacky things, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what people's imaginations come up with.
Great news! Another way to "get those juices going".

Creative or otherwise!

That will only work if there's an exact match between what they're looking for and what a category is about. Otherwise they'll just have more categories to go through in search for a match.

I am thinking this may be true. I just changed the categories on three stories. One went right through without verification. Two were sent to mods for verification. I will stop all changes until this is clarified.

Edit here: The m0ds are handling it. I guess I will c0ntinue. Thanks every0ne helping with the transiti0n.

That's what the tags are for. Pick the category you think fits best. Add tags to give more info. Simples!

A lot of stories are still in the big bucket of 'straight sex'. I think adding new categories will not only let readers find what they want more easily, but it might give ideas to authors. I really don't see a downside.
I think there have been minor improvements to the document holder for each story, over the years.

Ideally they'd all be backwards compatible, but as we've changed the editor software, and various other things over the years, that won't always be the case.

Newer stories should have exactly the same document template, as it were, so they should transfer between categories, fine. The older stories, may require reformatting unfortunately.

I think that's about the size of it.

Teething troubles are to be expected.

Yeah, older stories won't be formatted the same. What I would always advise is to preview your story and check the spacing on older ones. Minor changes like this are absolutely no problem to edit, but the more you do, the less we have to, and the quicker it will get back up.

Plus, you'll get brownie points for being a thoughtful and lovely person
Here is a question. I hope it is a simple answer. I see in the monster category that werewolves are included. They are humans that become wolves after being transformed. How about vampires? Are they considered monsters even if they started out as humans? There is a long tradition of vampire stories, so should they be included in the monster category?

Thank you, Nicola.
I'm working on writing stories, but I can already see new categories that I can make use of. I have two stories involving prostitutes so Money is a shoo-in for those. Need to review the others against my story list to see what might fit where.
